Our Verdict
I’ve probably missed some changes so feel free to make corrections in the comments. I don’t really think any of these cards are worth keeping long term and these changes haven’t changed that for me at all. It’s no surprise that American Express is going the coupon book route for more cards considering what they have done with the regular Platinum & Platinum business cards.
Funny enough this makes the gold biz more appealing. I can use that $150/hotel credit easy without losing much vs booking direct for 1 night so it kinda makes it a no AF, free checked bag card.
However, if the Resy & rideshares credit foreshadow what’s gonna happen on Plats I’m gonna be miffed. The “rideshare” credit details on the DL cards appear to exclude Uber eats so we’ll have to see some dp’s.
Agreed, and the Delta stay credit seems to be by calendar year which makes it even more appealing.
Any data points on how long the delta stay credit takes to post?
I just booked two days ago and it credited today.
Not a fan of Resy. The most recent American Express Member Week Offer with Resy never posted for me after some hiccups in payment because of the clauses associated with it. The restaurant only had 3rd party payment processors and apparently that was a clause in the offer.
That is the definition of an upright scam, and false advertising. Yes, I submitted a CFBP complaint. Sorry for the rant, but further solidifies me slowly moving away from AMEX.
Delta gold has been with me for 15+ years, will be a hard one to cancel following these ridiculous changes
Does anyone know if you hold 2x of the same Delta card if you get automatic silver status? For example if I open another Amex Delta Platinum is that 2x 2,500 MQD?
I don’t believe it will work. I do have one platinum Delta and one platinum business and that worked. It has to be from a different family.
No. Terms say you only get 1 MQD bonus for each card type
Cancelled a couple of Expedia reservations and rebooked on Delta Stays to get the credits. After that, I’ll likely close the 2 biz plat and 1 personal gold I’ve got. It’s been a pain to use skypesos except for domestic which I seldom fly – although I did get one of their flash sales a year ago for 65k r/t to BCN.
Resy credit just tells me who Amex’s target customers are.
The next time Amex Gold boosts AF with Resy credit, I am out (already decided to cancel Plat at next AF posting).
Remember that article posted here about how AMEX is “refreshing” their credit cards? Yeah, this is what that came out of that “refresh.”
If these Resy credits are coming to the Gold and Plat I might just cancel my entire portfolio of Amex cards and just switch to Chase entirely for all my spend.
EXACTLY my thoughts!!
What’s the scuttlebutt about resy?
You can use it in approximately 10 cities
That many?I rank it up there with free Blockbuster VHS rentals.
Looks like P2 and I are going to have a couple of delta blue cards real soon.
Might as well just cancel them at that point. Delta Blue cards are useless.
You may want to reconsider doing credit card offers if you think cancelling no fee cards is a good idea
It depends, if you are talking about capone I’m happy to cancel their no fee card to avoid their shitty customer service. Otherwise, I’d just keep them as they are harmless lol
Except for getting Pay With Miles, which would make it easier to get rid of those Skypennies once and for all.
