Alitalia miles have been devalued, be warned!
The Offer
- You can currently receive a 25% transfer bonus when you transfer American Express Membership Rewards points to Alitalia miles. Normally you can transfer 1,000 MR points and receive 1,ooo Alitalia miles, during this promotion you’ll receive 1,250 Alitalia miles instead.
The Fine Print
- Minimum transfer is 1,000 Membership Rewards points. Redeem for this exclusive offer from 12:00 a.m. CT on October 1, 2016 to 11:59 p.m. CT on October 31, 2016, to receive 25% additional Alitalia miles.
- Additional Alitalia miles will be awarded at the time of transfer.
Our Verdict
Historically American Express have only offered one transfer bonus for Alitalia MilleMiglia Club and that was for 25% and might have been targeted. So if you want Alitalia miles then now is probably the best time to transfer. You can view all of the previous transfer bonuses for all programs they have offered here. They are also currently offering the following transfer bonuses:
- American Express Membership Rewards: 50% Transfer Bonus To Plenti (500:750) – Get 1.5¢ Per Point: Valid until December 31st, 2016
- American Express Membership Rewards: 50% Transfer Bonus To Avios (250:300) : Valid until October 10th, 2016
Honestly I’m entirely unfamiliar with these miles, if anybody has more experience with the sweet spots then please let us know in the comments below.

Fuel surcharges ?
I understand they’re very high
Biggest downsides, and why it doesn’t get much attention is the restriction on RT travel only and frustratingly incompetent agents.
80k Biz to Europe and North Africa is one sweet spot.
It’s up there with Aeroméxico as some of the best pricing if you can deal with the headaches involved. 80k round-trip to Europe.
