American Express Now Shows Card Number In Online Login (YMMV)

American Express added a feature whereby one can see their full card number, expiration, and security code from within the online login. Go to Account Services > Card Management  > View Card Number.

Not everyone has this feature, it’s only showing for some.

Would this be visible if you just signed up for a card and for whatever reason didn’t get a virtual card issued?

No for me. My card was approved over the phone, so i tried this to get the card number sooner. No luck

Not a fan, do not see a point to it other than another loophole to get my card’s number stolen. I hope they will not do this at least for biz cards.

Definitely should have the option to opt out

I’m a huge fan. I have this option on some of my other non Amex credit cards and it has saved me many times when I needed the card number. For US Bank, it requires an additional 2FA before displaying the number.

Love it. Had plenty of things I wanted to buy online with my Amex but couldn’t because it wasn’t on my person.

Use a password manager like 1Password to store those secrets. Don’t rely on a bank to make it available to you

You have a lot more problems to worry about if you can’t trust the issuing bank itself that issues you your card number to store those same numbers…

I’m not saying banks can’t be trusted with your card numbers. I’m saying it’s inconvenient to log in and fetch the numbers through a bank website, when it’s better to write it down once into a password manager and retrieve it much more reliably when you need it.

Not really. Your login and/or certain parts of your data can be compromised without revealing other more sensitive data. There will always be leaks and breaches, you stick to best practices to minimize your vulnerability
