Honestly I’m tempted by Choice. I didn’t get the email and missed this post bc I was on vacation. We ended up randomly needing a stay, the only hotel chain in 50+ miles was a choice one going for >$300 after taxes. I didn’t have my amex card with me (which is where I learned of the trade). Still got over 1.2cpp with Cap One. Choice and IHG are almost always the most useful to me with where I go. Also eyeing a trip to Svalbard, Choice points go a long way there, just sayin….
How long do transfer bonuses like to these usually last? A few days? Weeks?
Hilton transfer was just instant, but the disclaimer was it can take up to 24 hours.
Virgin has sweet spots, BA definitely does, though the bonus here isn’t as good as it’s been. Am I missing any exciting opportunities valuation wise?
First time wanting to do this. How do I actually do this? I didn’t get an email or notification from AMEX.
Is this available to everyone? I managed to find my transfer site and it still is 1:1 for Aeroplan

Also, why are Aer Lingus and BA Avios on a bonus but Iberia Avios aren’t?
The avios are all transferable between the 3 programs. At least they used to be though, I had problems last time I tried to transfer between Iberia and BA
And JetBlue
For me, the most useful transfer is aeroplan. Don’t see these bonus transfers to that program often and when you do it’s usually 10% not 15%.
Why would mileage brokers buy Amex Membership points at a higher than 1:1 value? There must be something that they’re making a lot of money out of. I’ve seen them paying as much as 20% premium
They’re all scams that’s why. An advertised 20% premium is actually a -100% premium for you as you lose all your points when you deal with them.
incorrect. I’ve done many transactions with a couple different brokers over the past 10 years or so. Never been scammed once. The offers have gotten less compelling over the years, but that doesn’t equate to outright theft. It’s an option for folks who need to monetize their points for whatever reason.
I don’t pursue it anymore, but back in the 2014-2017 era, selling my points really helped me pay off my student loans.
Things have changed since 2017. Airlines no longer tolerate point reselling. AA especially has been proactive in banning people that were caught using miles to book tickets for strangers. They also confiscated all the miles belonging to abusers, and I vaguely remember they even wanted to pursue damages in court. Amex also used to allow point transfers to anybody with an MR account, they no longer allow that.
This is a grey area full of shady operators and with possible dire consequences, especially if you are sitting on a lot of points. My advice is to be careful and to do your research if you decide to enter that thunderdome.

They can use the points to book business class and charge their client more than what they’re paying out.
They can use it for first class which is even better,
Before the pandemic I use 95K Amex for ANA first class from JFK-HND which worth 2million yen = 19K USD at the time.
That why I don’t understand people who use it as 1pt : 0.01
Does a transfer in (Amex, Chase) reset the clock for Air France/KLM miles?
Yes for miles from previous transfers, no for butt-in-seat miles.
