Our Verdict

It’s often possible to get a bonus of 100,000 points with the same $5,000 spend requirement, the problem is that that offer is not available to everybody. Some people are also able to get 75,000 points after $5,000 in spend via the incognito mode offers.  I think everybody would agree that 40,000 extra Membership Rewards points is worth more than $225, so I’d recommend just waiting to be targeted for that offer as you can only get the sign up bonuses on American Express cards once per lifetime (15,000 points vs $225 is more debatable). You also need to worry about this offer tracking properly.  I guess some readers are sick of waiting for that offer or want/need the American Express platinum benefits immediately in which case this is the best current offer. I always thought these sorts of rebates were banned by affiliate networks and card issuers, if that isn’t the case then we have some work to do as I’d be happy to use links in that case and pass the full commission onto readers. It’s interesting how sites are trying to get additional applications, Credit Karma just added a best offer guarantee as well. As always read these things everybody should know about American Express cards before applying.

Just applied for this today. Cleared all my browser history and cookies. Used the link here to the SD page. Clicked the amex platinum link on the post. Was greeted with a 75,000 point offer, NOT the 60,000 points. This was though the link SD provided! Applied and approved. Submitted the form on the SD post. All it asked for was my SD username and PayPal email. Will report back when/if I receive the $225. Fingers crossed. Hopefully it doesn’t take too long to get the $225! Stay tuned!

Update: Just received the $225 bonus from Skickdeals in my PayPal this afternoon! This was with the 75,000 point offer that I got from clicking through the SD link. Awesome!!!

If I click through this deal in incognito (because I am an amex customer and it won’t show me the bonus), will it still track? Would I have to delete cookies first?

I get easily the 75K Amex platinum with baidu but i have CSR and i do not see the advantage of having a second high AF card.

I got Plat Benz last minute, so my plan is to get this card before Dec 31, wondering if this is the right time!

The Saks credit is just plain silly. I got a few pairs of undies and that was it for $50 — even with free shipping. It’s hard to find higher prices on things compared to this store.

I have been trying to buy some fragrance and I just can’t fork over $40 for a drop even if it’s completely free. It just feels sooooo wrong. There is nothing I can buy at saks that won’t make me think I wasted money even though i will actually get it for free.

I bought some sandals for 48 dollars. Turned out to be 50 dollars exactly with tax. Got free shipping. They were originally $150. Wore them for a day and threw them away. They were destroying my feet. Waste of effort. I am sure Saks has plenty of great things but not for 50 dollars or less. I consider this a coupon.

IMO, 60k +$225 is better than 75k offer. I rather have $225 than 15k MR.

I agree, if AmEx were offering 60k MR + $225, I would take it over 75k MR.

60k from AmEx and $225 from an affiliate network is quite different, and not worth the gamble IMO. If there are any tracking issues, you might as well just kiss the $225 goodbye unless you also want to give yourself an ulcer talking to CSRs who cannot do anything but send form responses.

SD has become a corporate shill. The real deals of yesteryear rarely see the light of day, but stupid shit is product placed all over.

I sort of agree with this… is there another platform now that FW is gone?
Thanks.

A fair number, though definitely not all, of deals boasted about on SD from the ‘glory days’ were price mistakes or outright fraud. Yes SD is much better at monetizing their platform now, but online businesses in general have gotten better at avoiding ‘unintentional deals’ that SDers found super slick.

i took the 75 k offer a year go. I have been waiting for a while for 100k for too long. IMO, its not worth the wait if you have are going to use the benefits
