Update; Looks like the SPG personal card will continued to be issued, good news if you missed out on the 25,000 point bonus!
As we warned readers, both the SPG personal and SPG business cards are now both offering the following sign up bonuses:
- Earn a $100 statement credit after you make $1,000 in purchases on the Card within your first 3 months of Card Membership. Plus, earn an additional $100 statement credit after your first purchase on the Card at a participating SPG® or Marriott Rewards® hotel within your first 6 months of Card Membership.
Hopefully we were able to give readers enough notice about this bonus change and you were able to sign up for the card under the old 25,000/30,000 SPG bonus. Keep in mind the SPG personal card won’t be issued anymore after August 1st, but the business card will be. That means if you haven’t received the sign up bonus on the SPG business card before, wait until a 35,000 point offer returns as that has been offered multiple times before.
Big thanks should go to the reader who leaked us this information, without readers like them this blog would be far less useful than it is. I’m sure many readers were able to get the better bonus on the personal card before it was changed due to them. If anybody finds any links that still show the 25,000 point bonuses please them them in the comments below.
POS offer. What a huge nerf. Happy I was able to take advantage of 30k and 35k offers on both cards within the past couple of yrs.
What evidence is there that 25k/30k/35k point bonus will return to the business card? Other than AmEx keeping the business card portfolio, the new statement credit bonus structure seems like a permanent change re Marriott integration. Am I missing something?
I don’t think Amex wants customers anymore.
Just noticed that I had 35k pts from Business SPG card post this morning…thank you DoC and all the contributors for helping us stay on top of the game
I assume you had to spend $5,000.00 on the card to get those points?
Thank you so much DoC. Love you!
Ugh, kept trying and couldn’t get the 30K offer to show, so I passed. Got too greedy, I guess.
Now Hyatt CC from chase become my first choice for daily use.
shellyLiu , Interesting…assuming the Hyatt & SPG are the only cards you have, why would you use the Hyatt card for daily usage??

I was approved for the 25,000 offer last night, but I’m not seeing any information about the 5-night stay credit under “benefits”…
Did that go away already?!
I got my 30k SPG in the mail YESTERDAY! What timing! All thanks to this blog.
THANK YOU Doc! I signed up for the card Tuesday upon your warning. I was even able to get 30k using incognito. Thankfully I was instantly approved, got a screencap of the offer, and card is on the way already.
$200 credit is a slap in the face, and to get the second $100 you have to make an SPG purchase!
A slap in the face? A bit dramatic.
I got approved for 30k yesterday. Thank you. If I did not see your article I would not have done it. You are awesome……..
