American Express To Add New Benefits For Delta, Hilton & Marriott Cardholders

American express has put out a formal press release advertising the new temporary credits and benefits for Platinum cardholders. At the bottom of that release they also state that new limited time offers for existing consumer and Business cardholders of Delta, Hilton & Marriott will be available. Unfortunately no additional details were given but fingers crossed we get some more information soon.

WILLIAM OR CHUCK,

Any word on these supposed new benefits???

I have been receiving e-mails from AMEX about the extension of time to use the free night certificate, etc. that already was known, and some other minor other things such as a TurboTax discount, but does this comprise the new benefits, or are they going to again permit the resort credit to be used at restaurants, etc. like last year??

If you guys could find out that would be great, as I already have taken by airline fee credit in the first days of this year with United (before the shutdown) and am wondering whether I should downgrade the card or hang on for better benefit yields that were promised in the press release.

Thanks!

The best thing Amex could do is change the stupid incidental flight credit to a pure travel credit or even an airline credit for a flight.

I really hope so otherwise The Bonvoy Brilliant, Delta Reserve and the Hilton Aspire Cards I have will get cut down to 1 at most. It was one thing when I’d travel a couple times a year and I could eek out a little benefit out of them, but I’m basically sitting on a money shredder at this point.

Anyone else receive an email from Hilton for a free night certificate today? I just got one and haven’t held an Aspire since March, and the $95AF card since November last year. Both have been downgraded to no fee versions.

I also received that, not sure where it is from. Downgraded my Aspire to the no fee card last spring as well.

I’ve had a Hilton card offering the free night certificate since they were issued by Citibank. Switched it to Aspire a couple years ago and last week back to Surpass. Always received my free night certificate, but have never once received an email notifying that I’ve received it. For the life of me I cannot figure out why that is.

On eligible stays at The Hotel Collection.
Honestly those “benefits” listed there are a yawn.

Am I the only one seeing the “Hotel, Air and Car Rental Offers for Trips Close to Home” part? Increased FHR/Hotel Collection credits and free nights, 20% discount on certain flights, and 2x MR on prepaid car reservations. No change fees when booking via AmEx Travel through March, either. Of course it’s all “participation may vary,” but that could be big.

That would make a Green the highest earning card for rental cars (2x+3x), or at least on par with booking via an OTA with the Prestige (5x). Not sure if it’d be worth skipping insurance from other cars, but solid for a $150/yr card.
