American Express To Open Atlanta Centurion Lounge

AJC is reporting that American Express will open a Centurion lounge in Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. Unfortunately neither the opening date or the location have been announced. It was revealed that American Express would be spending $40 million on the shell construction of the lounge. The deal is for ten years, with two additional 5 year renewal options. Currently this airport only has one lounge open to the public, Atlanta sought offers from lounge operators and received bids from American Express, Airport Dimensions (The Lounge) and Plaza Premium.

ORD never gets any love. To all those that don’t know the lounge situation at ORD, they only have 2 PP lounges, both of which are pretty bad. They do have a Polaris Lounge for United and Admirals for American but if you only carry the Platinum then good luck.

Considering most ATL flights are Delta, and you can’t bounce a tennis ball in ATL without hitting a SkyClub, this seems redundant. Not complaining, especially if it’s in one of the other concourses, but a surprising place to put your resources.

Agree, ORD is the worst. I avoid it due to its long walks to transfer and lack of lounges.

So needed! I was just thinking about this. This lounge would have to the size JFK size or larger. Delta has some insane lounges at Hartsfield so having the option between the Skyclub and Centurion lounges would be incredible. Skyclub lounges are never full in Atlanta.

Delta Hub, there’s a Delta lounge across from the PP The Club ATL in F. Only good news is this makes my WN points worth more as it gives another option to PP, otherwise if you’re flying DL, it’s no big change.

I am guessing the Annual fee for Amex Platinum will be in 4 digits by the time the Atlanta Centurion lounge opens.

Thanks god no ord centurion lounge. I vote two thumbs up against amex lounge at ord. Severely overcrowded and no way to use the lounge unless you have tons of layover. Amex stay away from ord!!!

I know, right? You have to buy a refundable delta ticket to go to the delta lounge and then cancel it while you wait for your flight on another airline. Too much work lol.

There’s no space most likely. After Global Terminal is completed I’m sure there will be one (which could be 10 years later)
