American Express To Refresh 35-50 Products This Year

American Express just had their 2024 Q4 earnings call, the most interesting thing was the planned refreshes for 2025.

Currently, we’re refreshing between 35 and 50 products a year and we’re planning to maintain that pace in 2025 along with other enhancements to our membership model for both our consumer and commercial customers.

Last year they stated they would refresh 40 products.

I treat AMEX Plat as an annual membership to their airport lounges. Free drinks, food, good wifi, nice chairs, nice staff, etc. All of the credits and coupons are gravy on top.

Yeah, the whole reason I have had the amex plat was because I went to buy the delta skyclub membership years ago and it was either the same price or cheaper for the platinum. I’ve had it since.

Y’all are a bunch of whining cry babies! Holy shit! The DD is used automatically on my way into work right when I get off the train. The Uber takes me to the train! LOLOLOL The 4x groceries and food is a win/win when you have a family.

As for the fuktard saying CS is mediocre at best, AHAHAHAH! Never have a problem, always answer my questions, smart, articulate and so much better than other companies CS reps I have come across.

Is this blue collar problems?

Recently caught myself going way out of my way to use the Dunkin credit and thought “what am I doing with my life?”. Cancelled the card the next day.

Ya, it’s just become a shitty expensive coupon book. Not renewing.

Well you just reminded me that I need to recharge my DD gift card again. I live in PNW so no DD for me. One day I will go somewhere and throw a party with donuts.

The Dunkin credit can be used at Baskin Robbins.

I’m storing away the credits in my Dunkin’ account for a rainy day but have no intention of keeping Gold card once I hit a year. Great for a first year SUB though!

Amex has turned into a ridiculous company. Like what card do they actually have that is that good anymore? Their customer service used to be top notch and now is mediocre and on par with industry.

If you are high net enough to get the Centurion card even that card has turned into a steaming pile of coupon crap. And compared to its former self, the benefits have all been reduced. The fee is not commensurate to what you are getting just like the rest of the cards. Hilton aspire? Business Gold? Same same.

At least Chase values your time a little better on travel credits.

I have been wondering why Amex customer service has dropped so much?

Their two best cards for everyday people are ironically none of the flagship cards.

  • Hilton Surpass for 6X groceries, dining, & gas and 4X online shopping, with fairly easy to use Hilton credits if you are staying at their properties at all. And you get one of their awesome FNCs at 15K.
  • Blue Cash Preferred for 6% groceries and streaming and 3% gas and transit, plus the partial Disney+ credit. Great card for families that don’t heavily dine out.

For everyone on this site the appeal is probably lost as it’s better to churn – but for regular folks wanting just one credit card to use those are still great options without annual fees and coupons books up the wazoo.

The annual fees ($150 Surpass, $95 BCP) dilute the rewards offered. Quarterly pressure to find a way to use the $50 Hilton credit in order to justify the Surpass AF is not enjoyable for everyday people. Could be useful for active travelers. The BCP 6% groceries is really 4.4% after the AF. 3% for gas and transit isn’t that appealing with various 5% category cards with no AF.

They need to figure out the Amex biz gold. The annual fee is not able to be offset after the original sign up bonus year!

I guess that means higher fees and more mostly useless coupons on more cards

I have to agree. over 7 years ago Amex cards were my main cards for spend. Haven’t touched them in years. The lifetime language in particular drives me away, but even then, they all very lackluster with little utility.

Well we will see the refresh of the Amex Platinum – new $895 annual fee with a coupon book of a $10 weekly credit of Jolly Rancher subscription.

  • Hilton Cards – adding Family Language

Amex Green – $199 fee
