Our Verdict
Useful if you need to book a flight anyway.
I think they were hoping idiots like me would book basic economy without noticing the restriction.
Couldn’t find anything suitable. The only contenders for me were Lima, Peru which i’m not interested in enough to visit despite the credit
Even if your airfare was exactly $500, you’d save 15% using SkyMiles, or $75. Unless one was going to pay cash anyways, and within these rules, that’s a lot of hoops to jump through for $25.
This offer has too many requirements just to get a $100 voucher:
1. Use AmEx Delta card, so you may not get the best earning and/or trip protection
2. You only get 5 days to plan an international trip and book the plane ticket
3. No miles+cash or basic economy fares
4. Fare must be $500 or more (per person), so no inexpensive Caribbean weekend trips
5. Blackout dates between 12/15/23 and 1/10/24, so if you are not back by 12/14 you have to wait at your destination for almost an entire month
6. Must complete travel by 3/24/24, so short window of opportunity
#4 is the killer for me. I am planning to make a trip internationally in January after the blackout dates. But never has my ticket exceeded $500 for this route…per person! Jesus.
Oh Delta. Too difficult and too many rules.
