The Offer
- Spend $150 at Hyatt Place hotels and receive $50 statement credit.
This offer is only available via the online log-in, no Twitter. I believe this is available in all Amex log-ins. All of my cards, across a few different log-ins, have the offer.
Note:Â This offer is only valid at Hyatt Place locations, not ordinary Hyatt locations.
I contacted a few Hyatt Place locations, and most said that you can purchase Hyatt gift cards at the front desk. They confirmed that the gift cards can be used at all Hyatt locations. One location told me that they don’t sell gift cards, but I suspect she simply didn’t know.
Based on previous experiences in similar situations, it’s fair to guess that Hyatt gift card purchases will trigger the credit. Obviously, this is not guaranteed; so far, I haven’t come across any confirmations from someone who tried it. [UPDATE: This is now confirmed.]
Assuming this works, this is an amazing opportunity to get a 33% discount on all Hyatt stays. I checked out the Hyatt Place Locator, and found a nice amount of Hyatt Place locations, making this an offer that should be able to be used by many of us.
This would also  be a great money-making opportunity, since Hyatt gift cards can be resold for around 85% of their value, or more. We can purchase $150 Hyatt gift card for $100, and then resell it for at least $127.50. Total profit of more than $27 per registered Amex card!
The Fine Print
- Valid until 2/28/2015.
- Excludes gift card purchases. (As noted, we doubt that this is actually true.)
- Only valid at Hyatt Place locations, not ordinary Hyatt locations.
Our Verdict
I hope to make use of this offer as a money-maker. I don’t have any Hyatt Place locations in my immediate vicinity, but there were a good few locations that I think I’ll pass by within the next few months.
I’ll first buy one $150 gift card and see if I get the confirmation email. If it comes, then I’ll go ahead and purchase gift cards on the rest of my Amex cards.
Did you successfully get $50 from Amex on this offer?
Please let us know.
Thanks
I haven’t done it yet (though I hope to do it soon), but it has been confirmed by Dan’sDeals. http://www.dansdeals.com/archives/57841
Did it on 6 amex cards. Sucess on all.
No on my Hilton card :p
Sorry to hear.
Hey Chuck,
I am asking basic question since new to selling back giftcard we buy.
Which website you prefer to sell gift card and method of shipment you prefer when you send them giftcard.
Look forward to reply.
Thanks
Sorry for the delayed response. (I missed seeing this comment til now.) I hope to write a complete post on this topic soon.
The easiest way to see the various prices is by going to giftcardgranny.com and seeing who pays the most. I’d trust all of the giftcardgranny sellers.
I ship gift cards via USPS first class package in a bubble envelope. It comes with free tracking when purchasing the postage online.
You just don’t use the free shipping label that places like cardpool offer?
Yeah, that works for Cardpool. I usually don’t use it, even with Cardpool, because I send in a whole bunch of cards at once, and I want to have tracking info, which the Cardpool label won’t get you.
The offer was not on my Blue for Business nor (for some strange reason) my Hilton HHonors card, but was on my Platinum, Gold, and OBC.
Yeah, I’ve heard it’s not on all. Good to hear that you got 3 out of 5.
Had this on 2 out of 5… not bad.
Good to hear you got 2.
It say reservations must be done online. Does that mean the purchase has to be done online?
Technically, you’re supposed to book online at Hyatt Place (meaning, as opposed to on Orbitz or some other third party), and then you swipe and pay at the hotel.
We’re guessing that if you swipe and pay for a gift card it will work too.
No offer at all. On any of the wife’s 8 or my 10-ish. Ack!
Oh no! Sorry to hear.
I only have 1 offer from 5 cards(2 personal, 3 business cards), but thanks!
I guess it’s targeted. I hadn’t realized.
