Update 1/12/21: You can also get 2,000 Membership Rewards points on each of your first four orders, more details in this dedicated post.
Update 1/10/21: There’s also a military/first responder discount of 50% off your first order and 10% off subsequent orders. Hat tip to reader Jon
- If you’re doing the Swagbucks deal, you’ll get a discount on each of your first four orders, so that works well for someone who will be using it three times (ht Jeff).
- See also this comment indicating gift card purchases trigger the offer.
- Another reader shares code FALL55 for 55% off, up to $40 discount.
Update 1/6/21: This is now showing up as being available for three uses, $150 total; also showing that way in the AmEx press release. We had initially only mentioned one use as being available (ht Mark and Jon).
The Offer
No direct link, targeted offer
- Get a $50 statement credit when you spend $50 or more at Home Chef by 6/30/2021.
The Fine Print
- Only U.S-issued Consumer Platinum and Consumer and Business Centurion American Express® Cards are eligible.
- Offer is available for eligible Card Members with active accounts as of 11/1/2020.
Our Verdict
Stack this with a Swagbucks offer for another $40. That should turn this into an easy money maker and some free food as well. This is another one that is targeted towards Consumer Platinum cardholders and also consumer/business Centurion cardholders and you must have had an account as of 11/11/2020.  There are also similar offers for Home Depot, Best Buy, Scrib, Avis, Samsung, Wine Insiders & Instacart. Plus the $30 PayPal Credit already announced.

Bought a 3 50$ gift cards…got the amex email…hopefully will get reimbursement also. Dont have time to check whether it still works or not
king & LT Q: did the 3x $50 credit post yet?
just did 1 $50 gift card purchase and amex email triggered. would like to do 2x more but prefer to get confirmation that it still works.
Data Point:
Just bought a $50 gift card and received the Amex email confirming $50 back before I even received my Home Chef gift card.
LT Q: how long did it take for your $50 credit to post? thank you!
TL:DR make sure to check that they charged you correctly, in order to receive the credit.
just a heads up I made a order on home chef of about ~$55, but instead of one charge home chef charged me twice, both less then $50, on two separate days (9 days apart mind you).
I chatted with AmEx and they would not give me the statement credit, even after uploading my receipt and explaining what happened.
i had to send a message to home chef requesting that they give me a refund and recharge me (and threatening to dispute the charge if they wont) in order to sort this out
all I’m saying is that if you use this AmEx offer make sure to check and insure that you receive the credit
DP just bought $50 e.gift card and triggered Amex offer email
Did you get the credit for the same or not. planning to buy a e-gift card
I got the offer redeem message for home chef but I haven’t seen the $50 credit yet. anyone else have this issue
I didn’t even get the email.
I got the email for Home Depot offer, but still hasn’t seen the credit. wonder what’s going on with their system
Anyone get an AMEX credit for their Home Chef order? I spent $51 on my first week, but I’m reluctant to do another week until the credit shows up. I’d rather wait than have another 50 bucks to “fight” about.
You may have gotten that order in before many people started having problems with the AMEX Offer credits. And it seems to not just be Home Chef, which may be a good thing for me. BTW, Home Chef’s practice of charging you before you place an order — and not even telling you they’re doing so, or how much they’re charging you — may be the single most deceptive online business practice I’ve ever seen.
I made a purchase for $54.xx last week. So far no credit and no email.

I thought I’d try to take full advantage of the deal and get as much salmon as possible (protein of choice in my house). My initial cart of $150 was charged, using swagbucks $30 off, despite adjusting my order to $50 after discount. I got the credit, but I didn’t want to jump hoops for credit that wasn’t valuable to me so I emailed support to ask why I wasn’t refunded. Support refunded me the difference, BUT the $30 discount code instead stayed in my credit. Checking my next order options, I’m now able to use the $30 credit + the $30 swagbucks offer, and going for a ~$51 charge to hopefully get the 2nd amex credit.
So far I’m writing this off as a loss, though my own fault, because I don’t value the meals. So I’ve essentially spent roughly $30 for $35 in swagbucks. Depending on how this order goes (assuming credits work as shown on the website checkout, amex posts, salmon isn’t trash, etc), I may try for the 3rd credit but I’m basically doubling down when I probably should just walk away.
Does anyone have experience combining the $30 or $15 from swagbucks with previously purchased giftcards? Terms seem to suggest that they don’t combine in cart, but the credit on my account acts differently so I’m curious what people have seen.
This is back on Swagbucks for $40 through Revenue Universe.
1/8 purchase, 48.91 credit posted today.
Never mind, the credit is reversed today. Seems like a system glitch.
Been over 8 calendar days now since I made purchase. Got successful email too from Amex, but this one is taking longer to credit. Usually amex credits witing 2-3 business days.
