The Offer

Check your AmEx Offers for the following deal:

  • Get a $5 statement credit by using your enrolled eligible Card to spend a minimum of $50 in one or more purchases online at Amazon.com by 10/28/2024. Limit of 3 statement credits (total of $15).

The Fine Print

  • Offer valid online only at US website Amazon.com and through the Amazon Shopping app. Not valid on purchases shipped outside of the US. See merchant website for shipping policy. Some merchants may not ship to all areas.
  • Excludes Prime memberships, auto-renew subscription services, corporate gift cards and custom-designed gift cards.
  • Excludes Amazon Go, Amazon Local, Amazon Mechanical Turk, Amazon Web Services, Amazon Home & Business Services, Amazon Currency Converter, Home Services, Prime Photos, Amazon Inspire, Amazon Video Direct, Amazon business, Amazon Global, or Amazon Drive. Not valid at international sites owned and/or operated by Amazon or websites affiliated with/linked to/from Amazon.com.
  • Valid only on purchases made in US dollars.

Our Verdict

Nice little savings. This works out even better if you can stack it with the Shop With Points deal or Shop With Reward Dollars deal since you might anyway be paying with the Amex card for that.

Has Amazon ever done cash back offers like this? Not that I can recall.

Remember Amazon charges when it ships, so you may not want to wait for the last minute.

This works with the Amazon Balance reload. I added $50 to my Balance x3 and got $5 x 3 credits within a few days

Log into your account using a browser > In your main dashboard under “Amex Offers & Benefits” look to see if you have 100 Available Offers or Available (100)

If you do, start adding/activating offers (I add ones I know I won’t be using)

Log out of your account

Log back into your account

Check if your Available Offers have been replenished back to 100 with new offers.

I have a BCP and see the Amazon spend $30, get back $5 offer.

You have to add every offer to get every offer. It can only display 100 at a time, so you have to make room by adding even offers you have no interest in.

Do third-party gift cards work, e.g. Apple?

I don’t believe so and reckon that’s what they meant by excluding “corporate gift cards” in the fine print.

Maybe someone else can confirm, though.

Should be fine on third party and even Amazon gift cards (see DPs below). That corporate gift card language is usually for bulk gc purchases IIRC.

DP: in 3 separate orders, I purchased 2 $25, and 1 $50, and 1 $50 physical amazon gift cards. I received the $5 credit for all 3 orders.
