Our Verdict
Great offer for Ritz stays and widely available in the login and via Twitter.
To make it easier to use, you can try buying Ritz/Marriott gift cards at the front desk. If this works, it’s huge since Ritz gift cards can be used at all Marriott locations worldwide which makes this offer much broader. It also makes it easier to lock in for the future.
While in previous, similar offers it’s always worked when buying gift cards at the front desk of the hotel, keep in mind a few things:
- It might not work this time. Please let us know if you try.
- Even if it is working, if something goes wrong with the credit posting, you won’t be able to follow up and get it manually credited.
- Front desks don’t always carry gift cards or the reps there don’t know where to find them. If you get the right rep, I’ve had experience at many Marriott hotels that do carry Marriott gift cards, and I assume Ritz would be the same.
Bought GCs at Boston Ritz without issues.
If going after 4 PM call them and ask ahead. Looks like the accounting department gives a set number of cards to front desk every day.
Any DPs on GCs bought online?
Would this work for the AMEX HILTON HONOR cc because we just stayed in a Sheraton last week and I used my HH to pay…
Bought gift cards at two RC hotels in DC area without an issue. Got congratulations emails about using the offer from AmEx. Hopefully this will end up in actual cashback.
Went to different Ritz in NYC and both of them said they don’t sell GCs anymore at the front desk/concierge. The same properties sold me GCs last year. They said per the new corp policy they are not selling any more and all GCs will have to purchased online only.
Called the Ritz in Boston and they sang the same song.
Is any one able to purchase GCs at the property?
This would work for additional nights beyond the free ones from the RC card bonus, right? I have 3 ready to go, would be great to use this for a 4th and maybe 5th…
The problem I have getting use out of this is the same with all the AMEX hotel offers. US only. Makes most of the offers useless to me as my leisure travel is almost all international. Don’t know why they make this limitation. I would think whatever benefit there is to the brand to promote stays in their hotels would apply to international stays too. Frustrating.
Any idea if this will apply towards room charges for an existing stay?
As long as you haven’t prepaid I don’t see why it wouldn’t
Thanks
Appeared on all my MR cards (biz and personal), but no other cards (eg SPG). Big fan of the chain.
5/6. only hilton card didn’t have it. Unfortunately, I never stay and don’t plan to stay at RC.
Can someone confirm that Ritz gift card purchase works?
