Our Verdict
In the past, gift card purchases at the desk have worked to trigger these Amex Offer credits. However, it’s usually hard to find a location/employee who has gift cards and knows how to activate them.

These are just applicable for one stay right? I can’t do 2 $100 stays over a week to trigger the offer correct?
I have it only on my PRG. Trying to wait for the offers to become available on my SPG personal or SPG business given the amex offer limit.
Got them all and added them to clear my offers page. Not planning to use them as I use points for stays. But good offers for those who can take advantage.
So do you add every offer? Does that increase your odds of getting new offers?
Of course I got these offers on my Everyday card but not my SPG Luxury card.
BTW — Also seeing:
LaQuinta spend $100 get back $20
Waldorf Astoria + Conrad spend $350 get back $70
Double Tree spend $225 get back $45
Omni Hotels spend $250 get back $50
Same issue with them appearing on my Plat card but not my SPG card where they’d obviously be more valuable. I feel like the Hilton offers show up more often on the actual branded card – in fact i had the waldorf and doubletree offers on both my plat and aspire, so they got added to the aspire.
Wonder if it these might appear on the spg if we wait a bit? I feel like i’ve seen stuff like that happen the past – that is offers not loading at the same time as reported by the blogs- but maybe that was for different people and not different cards.
It’s of great ongoing annoyance that these offers for international hotel chains explicitly exclude international hotels.
Would this have to be for only one stay or will they look at total spend during that time period? If you stayed at a Fairfield twice and it was $100 each night, would you still get the credit?
Combined across multiple stays worked in the past on the Marriott/SPG offers.
Is it worth it to try at a courtyard that I know has gift cards?
I would, they are definitely hard to find. Mostly the upper tier Marriott properties are the only ones that sell them.
All Residence Inns I’ve stayed at in multiple cities had them, and they weren’t upper-tier. In fact, all Residence Inns in my small-town have them as well.
Is $40 off $200 gift card at Courtyard worth it?
It’s not a courtyard gift card. It’s a Marriott gift card. I’m planning on staying in Crete at the Marriott with some friends and wanted to treat everyone to a spa day there so I’ve been stacking these gift cards up. Worth it just depends on what your plans are.
That usually works
