The promotion is geared toward people signing up for their newsletter, but there is nothing explicit in the terms preventing you from ordering something else. I bought chocolate bars and lip balm for $82.50 and got an email notification in 30 min from Amex saying I fulfilled the offer terms.
Just remember that AmEx Offers include sales tax and shipping fees. If you’re in a zone with tax, order a little less and let the tax push you to the $79.99 threshold.
It came back alive on Dec 4th and dead again on the 6th. Was able to place 13 orders. some towels, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, lip balm, olive oil, teeth whitening kit, etc. Super over priced items, hope at lease will be good quality. No tax, few orders were charged with shipping though.
I made an order $86.50 for a sneaker and lip balm on Nov 30th. Never received confirmation email but Amex app showed “redeemed offer” on Dec 3rd. And the credit came in today (Dec 4th) and the expected delivery date is Dec 8th. It was a lot quicker than I thought. I can see the Amex is back. Will try again using P2 credit card.
Me and P2 were able to redeem the offer using Amex card directly when the Amex payment method was alive. P3 and P4 were able to redeem using the Paypal account as well. All credits came in within 5-6 days of purchase.
12/4 amex is back. They just can’t stay away.
PayPal is working, and you can split payment across multiple cards.
But does PayPal trigger the offer? Offer terms say you may not receive the statement credit if you use a mobile or digital wallet.
I received the confirmation emails from Amex.
I just tried it with Amex tied to my PayPal and have not gotten the confirmation email from Amex.
Made payment using paypal and got the confirmation after few hours.
Update: got the confirmation email a few hours later.

I received my credits on 13 cards. 10 were split payments through PayPal.
Had this on three cards and all three were credited within 3 days. Used Paypal checkout.
Now that ShopPay has disabled Amex, does MetPay still work and trigger the offer?
Went a little overboard and put through 15 offers yesterday 🙂
I mean, it’s mostly crazy overpriced junk, but when I ended up paying ~$1-5/order for said junk, it seemed okay.
P.S. I thought it was interesting that they reached out to me by email today saying “Thank you for your continued support of the Air Supply shop.
We are reaching out to advise that all edible items, including supplements
drinks, and teas will be considered final sale.
Please confirm your understanding of this so we can proceed with
having our vendors fulfill your orders.”
And after I replied with my confirmation, some of the orders already started shipping.

Wasn’t able to use the offer on time last round, was able to order the pickleball paddle since I’ve been wanting a Nettie for awhile. 79.99 on the dot. With taxes, it comes to ~87 for me. Amex offer email received about an hour later.
Ordered some random soaps and lip balms to get the total to $80.16 after tax/shipping. Thanks Doc for letting us know Amex is back as an option.
Bought a baseball hat, lip balm, toothpaste and some teas. $83 total. 5 minutes after placing the order I received an email from AMEX confirming I had used the AMEX offer. Hopefully, it posts sooner than later
