Just remember that you don’t earn points on the purchase when paying with an Amex card. There are lots of different promo codes that help waive fees: Phone401 $3.95 off purchase fees and AG0120HP for free shipping.
Anybody have trouble getting this credit to post? I had a $20 off $300 offer, definitely added it. Made the purchase on June 19, never got an alert that the offer was used, and still not seeing it under the savings tab. The offer also disappeared (despite it not expiring till July 5), which usually means it’s posting but seems very slow if it is.
For anybody with the same issue, I chatted with Amex. Told me to wait 7-10 business days, didn’t think they actually did anything, but then later that day it showed up it in the Savings tab, and got the credit the next morning.
DONT EVER BUY THESE. It declines everywhere then uses .10 each time. I called and they are no help.
Thats just how they have always worked. Now that you know how they work you should be able to make best use. The 10 cents falls off after 10 or so days after which you can use it. Yes annoying, but the good thing is all you need to access the balance is the emailed link.
So how do we use the last 10 cents? The one way I have found is to add it as a cable or insurance payment method but not make any payment with it for 10 days. At that point the 10 cents would drop off and you can use the full remaining balance on the card.
Looks like they heard you…..this is a bit creepy though: The .10 hold is not longer happening – after the 23rd of August. Was able to finish up a bunch of old Amex GC with .10 cents remaining without the need to add them to the account. No holds.
I bought a $200 AmexGC on May 3. However, I cannot use it for online shopping. This AmexGC is keeping declined. I cannot add it to apple pay for instore use either.
Anyone has encountered the similar problem?

one benefit of this card over visa/mc physical/digital gc is we can add/use amex gc in apple pay.
Remember that amex gift cards earn zero points.
I got $10 back on $200 which is 5%.
Not worth it. Might as well use the Ink Business Cash to buy the $200 ones at Staples this week without the fee since a physical VGC trumps an electronic one.
