Our Verdict

Awesome offer! In the past, these ‘business’ AT&T wireless offers have worked for ordinary consumer wireless as well (update: multiple confirmations can be found for this deal as well in the comments below). In fact, I believe it worked on some other AT&T charges as well, like AT&T internet, I’ll try to check out past posts if I have a chance later to find out what worked in the past. Please let us know in the comments if you try it for personal cellular or for any other ATT purchase.

The offer will likely only show on business Amex cards.

AT&T runs Amex Offers semi-regularly, this one is from the better ones. Sadly I’m not targeted. You can load up your AT&T wireless account with up to $300 (you can bump over that threshold too if your account balance is under $300). It used to be unlimited, but recently they added the $300 limit.

Made two payments back in March. This was a good reminder because I never received bonus payout, just chatted and they opened a case for me, will report back.

This offer expires 06/08/2019. Full terms on AmEx state purchase must be completed by 06/01/2019. I called and spoke to an AmEx rep who said the offer is good until 06/08/2019, and that the 06/01/2019 reference is a typo. I only have a personal AT&T wireless account. I normally auto-draft from another credit card. I had an existing balance. Followed directions in discussion to use the AT&T app. Paused auto-draft on 06/04/2019 through app, paid $176 right afterwards with AmEx Business Platinum (which was in excess of outstanding balance). Immediately received an email from AmEx stating that I had used the AT&T AmEx offer. Tried to make a second bill pay (credit) for $176 through the app (because you can take advantage of this offer twice), but got an error message stating they can only process one transaction per card in a 24 hour time period. So, will come back tomorrow (after 24 hours) and do it again.

Ran the second $176 charge today (06/05/2019) through the AT&T app against my personal wireless account (which had a credit balance from yesterday’s activity), 24 hours after running the first one. Same thing, processed successfully at AT&T and got email from AmEx confirming use of offer. Obviously, points haven’t had a chance to post yet, but everything working smoothly as it should for the 2x use of this offer nearing expiration.

So it seems that paying via the ATT App on IPhone generates the credit as paying via att.com/smallbusiness website shows “AT&T PHONE PAYMENT 800-288-2020 TX” and fails to generate the $100 credit, RIGHT?

I tried making an online payment for my internet-only account and no credit. Has anyone tried paying via app for an internet-only account?

After failing to receive the credit for paying my consumer internet bill, I talked a friend into paying his consumer wireless-only bill with my card that has the offer. He paid it via the web by logging into AT&T, did not want to install the app. Billing detail in my Amex portal says “AT&T PHONE PAYMENT 800-288-2020 TX” exactly the same as when I paid my own internet bill via web browser. Further detail under “Additional Information” says “[long string of letters] AT&T UVERSE.” My friend does not have Uverse and never had any other services from Uverse, Weird that it is listed as such.

Did not receive the credit and it has been a week.

Join the discussion…@Moneyman, did you make your personal wireless bill online via https://www.att.com/my/#/login or via iOS app? Thanks.

So I added this to my card the day it came off. I dont see it under my added offers anymore. That happened to me with another offer a while ago but still got the credit after using the card. So I went ahead and paid $175 personal AT&T via app – but not congrats email from AmEx. I am really hoping it works out.

The added offers only shows 100 entries so it’s possible there are offers expiring before it. If the latest expiring offers on your list are before this one (6/8) then you should be concerned. BTW the offer disappears from the list after you make the transaction and it posts, but before it shows up as redeemed.
