Amex Offers (Business Platinum/Gold): Get 4x Bonus Membership Rewards On Wireless, Shipping, Advertising, Gas and Office Supply

Update: This is showing on Business Platinum and Business Gold. On Gold, it stacks well with existing 4x gas category rate.

The Offer

Check your American Express business Membership Rewards-earning points cards for the following offer:

  • Get 4 additional Membership Rewards points for each dollar spent on eligible purchases in the following categories:
    • Wireless
    • Shipping
    • Advertising
    • Gas
    • Office Supply Stores

The Fine Print

  • Up to 80,000 points per category ($20,000 spend)

Our Verdict

I believe this is only available to Business Platinum credits and is in addition to the $200 customer appreciation credit. Personal card is getting two $50 best buy credits and a $30 monthly PayPal credit. This extra 4x should stack with the $25 bonus for purchases over $500+ if you’re targeted for that as well. I wouldn’t risk any sort of manufactured spend with this promotion and American Express’ track record so becareful with gift card and cash equivalent purchases.

Looks like the offer is on my AMEX Biz Plat with this language “Offer to enroll is only available to eligible U.S.- issued Business Platinum and Business Centurion American Express® Cards who are Basic Card Members or Additional Card Members prior to November 1, 2020.” Looks like if you opened your card after 11/1/20, you are not eligible for these offers.

Terms of the offer include:

“Offer to enroll is only available to eligible U.S.- issued Business Platinum and Business Centurion American Express® Cards who are Basic Card Members or Additional Card Members prior to November 1, 2020. Limit 1 enrolled Card per Card Member across all American Express offer channels.”

Folks who recently opened a biz plat, and/or have multiple of that card seem to be out of luck.

Seems like this is targeted. Not showing on either of my biz golds. I don’t currently have a biz plat. One biz gold opened 12/19, the other 12/20.

I don’t see gift cards being excluded on the office supply stores terms… I don’t think I’ll risk it, but it does not appear to go against the offer terms.

Yeah I am wondering about this too. May just use the Bold Ink for those to be safe. There will be people who chance this though so may need to wait for DPs.

These are probably beneficial to a lot of actual businesses, as compared to a lot of the people here who hold BizPlats for other reasons.

I have 15 Business Platinums, this is only useful for one of those. That’s what sucks.
