Our Verdict
I’m seeing this on both of my AmEx business cards, but not on my personal cards. Nice discount on Delta flight, just note the qualification that the flight must originate from US and be in USD. Also note the gift card purchase exclusion, though – in practice – I believe this has always worked in prior offers (correct me, please, if I’m wrong).

Do gift card purchases trigger the credits this time? I see people are saying no?
Just purchased $200 e-gift card from delta.com, and immediately received “You just used your Amex Offer” email from AmEx.
Received my $40 statement credit for taxes on an award booking – YaY !
And now another $40 statement credit for Delta award taxes on a second card.
Did anyone receive the credit yet for legit Delta purchase(s) ?
I made some award bookings with taxes >$200, but didn’t receive the credit yet.
My experience is that any Amex statement credits usually post within a few days.
There have been many delays with the posting of credits from offers. I am waiting on this as well, and also other credits from Feb 1
Thanks ! That sounds more reassuring.
I just chatted about this credit and was assured that the credit is valid and would post within the next 10 biz days.
We’ll see.
Got it on my BBP. Nice for cash fares but beware the GCs are super low use. Can’t be used to cover seat upgrades or fees of any kind. Only for fares so you’re better off not getting a GC.
I got it on my Biz Plat, but P2 did not get it on their Biz Plat (nor their BBP).
Nothing on any of my 4 personal cards.
Do Buying Delta GC’s trigger the credit?
Mat no
Previously it did. Just be sure that you buy from delta, not from cashstar.
I still haven’t gotten the credit – 8 days later. I had to buy the gift card anyway, so I decided to try it.
Did you use a desktop (and not the app) to make the purchase at Delta.com ?
Lou Did you buy it at Delta site? Thanks for the update!
zero for me
Probably advisable to be careful about pulling the old Delta statement credit trick: book flight, cancel within 24 hours, get the statement credit.
No. More. delta. Gift. Cards.
Didn’t get offer, maybe bc I just switched Amex plat airline to United? Petty bastards!
