The Offer
Check your AmEx Offers Membership Rewards card for the following deal:
- Get 7,500 additional Membership Rewards points one-time by using your enrolled eligible Card to make a single purchase of $500 or more online at delta.com/giftcards/amex for Delta Gift Cards by 6/9/2023. Valid only for Delta Gift Cards.
The Fine Print
- Offer valid online only at US website delta.com/giftcards/amex for e-gift and physical gift card purchases. See merchant website for shipping policy. Some merchants may not ship to all areas.
- Valid only on purchases made in US dollars.
- You may not receive additional Membership Rewards points if we receive inaccurate information or are otherwise unable to identify your purchase as qualifying for the offer. For example, you may not receive the Membership Rewards points if (a) the merchant uses a third-party to sell their products or services; or (b) the merchant uses a third-party to process or submit your transaction to us (e.g., using mobile or wireless card readers); or (c) you choose to make a purchase using a third-party payment account or make a purchase using a mobile or digital wallet. Purchases may fall outside of the offer period in some cases due to a delay in merchants submitting transactions to us or if the purchase date differs from the date you made the transaction (for example, the purchase date for online orders may be the shipping date).
- Additional points will be credited to your Membership Rewards program account within 90 days after 6/9/2023, provided that American Express receives information from the merchant about your qualifying purchase.
Our Verdict
Nice deal here. Just note, Delta gift cards can only be used for the flight itself and not for baggage fees or the like.

There’s a new one for $300/3k points Im seeing on Amex Everyday, Green, Gold, not on Delta.
0/2 for me across Platinum and Everyday. P2 got on Platinum.
Didn’t see it on my Delta Blue card
I chatted with a CSR and they said this offer was limited to the Platinum, Gold, Green, Everyday, and Everyday Preferred Delta cards.
No luck on my personal Plat
count for SUB or retention bonus? Or RAT bait?
Amex offers always count.
Why would an Amex offer be a trick?
I think @wwllmm is probably asking because this particular offer is for a gift card purchase.
Any way to stack this with anything else? Couldn’t find any other active promo and was wondering if there was anything that could stack.
Stack with an earlier Amex spend offer if you have it: $1500 in one or more transactions within 90 days of adding offer, get 1500 points.
Will this also get 5x points
No.
so this only gives extra 2500 then, at the cost of all trip protections and spending early for no reason. I’ll pass.
No, it will effectively get more, at least in terms of points.
If you bought a $500 Delta ticket on an Amex Platinum Personal this will receive you 2,500 MR, but if you speculatively bought a $500 Delta GC with this deal and were able to use it for a $500 ticket, you would then net 8,000 MR.
And, note what ginger_pickle says in this thread, which is partially true or rather slightly more nuanced. They mention that “spending early for no reason” is not worth it for them, which if you have no idea when you’re going to fly Delta again, I can definitely understand this thinking, but if you know you’re 100% going to fly a $500+ Delta ticket you haven’t bought yet, seems like a solid deal. Related to what they say “at the cost of all trip protections”, this is partially true and again nuanced. For the baggage insurance part of Amex insurance, I believe they’re right, that the entire ticket price needs to be charged and not partially on a gift card. But with the other travel insurance protections, as long as the ticket cost at least a little more than $500 and you put that balance on your Amex Platinum Personal, I believe you would be fully covered (and earn 5X on that portion of your ticket). Also, when you finally buy your actual ticket you could just use the Amex-purchased $500 gift card and pay the remaining balance with a Chase Sapphire Reserve (as an example), and you will receive travel protections with a portion of the amount charged to that specific Chase card (and maybe others).
