Update 6/18/21: Looks like the offer has been extended until 7/31/21.
The Offer
Check your American Express business cards for the following deal:
- Get 10% back as a statement credit by using your enrolled Business Card on eligible purchases in-store at Lowe’s or online at Lowes.com or LowesforPros.com by 6/30/2021. Limit of $50 in total statement credits.
- Others are seeing the same deal with $100 limit.
The Fine Print
- Offer valid in-store at Lowe’s (excluding any Lowe’s Outlet(s)) and online at Lowes.com or LowesforPros.com.
- Valid at participating locations in US.
- Excludes any Lowe’s branded website that is operated by a third party on behalf of Lowe’s, including but not limited to https://applianceparts.lowes.com/, https://lowesstore.wgiftcard.com/, https://blinds.lowes.com/, as well as the sale of any electronic or corporate gift cards.
Our Verdict
This deal comes around each year in January. Reader Avi found this deal on SimplyCash card, and I found it on one of my business cards as well. Some things to note:
- Electronic gift cards are excluded.
- Portals do not earn cash back on gift card purchases, but do work for non gift card purchases (view the highest rates here).
- Lowe’s sell a variety of third party gift cards in store, I shared some previous experiences here. This time, I’ll probably go for $500 in Amazon gift cards.
- If you spend $500 in a single transaction, you can also trigger the separate $25/$500 AmEx Offer if you have them both saved on the same card. If you have the $100 Lowe’s offer, do two separate $500 transactions to trigger that $25 twice.
Overall a very good deal and especially usable due to the gift card angle and a nice long 5 months to use up.

Careful of this deal and of bumping old posts. I got burned on this. Apparently what happens when Amex extends the deadline of an old offer (or at least this one) it pops up in your account again as a new offer. So I did the original one in January, spent very close to the max and got the rebate. When this appeared as a “new” offer, I saved it and as always verified it appeared under my saved offers. Then spent another $500. I ended up with only a few cents rebate (the remaining balance on the offer from earlier in the year) instead of $50. Chatted and called and they keep insisting I did not add any new offer in June and there is only the offer from January. And indeed the offer I added in June has disappeared completely. Very frustrating
I was excited for a second but it just looks like the same offer from earlier in the year, just an extended expiration date,
Hi if we already used this offer, does this new 7/31 extension mean it is a new offer and can be used again? Thanks
Almost certainly a big fat no on that one.
nice!
From my own experience buying VGC (assuming it applies to any GC) at Lowe’s, any gift card transaction over $400 requires manager code approval. I’ve done 2x$200 and 4x$200 VGC transactions, as well as asked the cashier what the threshold was. Took a manager 15 mins to show up too.
The offer expiration appears to have been extended to 7/31/21, having just looked at my saved offers today.
10%/$100 off received & enrolled on 2 cards, Marriott (SPG) Biz and SimplyCash Plus. Can confirm 10% off 3rd party physical GC purchased in store.
Tried to buy $500 in Amazon GC ($200 + $200 + $100), register said that it required manager approval, I showed my ID and card, and the manager insisted the purchase had to be broken up into smaller transactions, so I walked out. Not sure how widespread this is.
Chuck Same, cash or credit only 🙁 Manager appears to be able to override but wouldn’t. Ymmv
Something changed over past few months. I was able to check out $200×5 vgc’s in one transaction over 8-12 months ago. Then it changed to up to $500 at some point. And now even $300 didn’t work in one transaction. So, cashier did separate transactions and all went fine. Little annoying but can be deal breaker if your store won’t or can’t do separate transactions.
My DP yesterday: The manager asked the cashier to break down $200 * 5 amazon GCs into 3 transactions of $200 * 2 + $200 * 2 + $100.
positive data point here. Successfully purchased $500 in amazon gc ($200 + $200 + $100). didn’t require any override but the register required a phone number for tracking purposes. I saw it prompted the cashier to input it and said something about what to say to the customer if the customer asks why…
either way was able to make my purchase without issue.
Showed ID and then the manager just refused to sell them to me. He told me to go to staples down the road! Said there was too much fraud for him to risk selling them.
It seems the real cap is 1000 per transaction, once you purchase over than 3000, it will be hard code, the system charges you, however the GC will not be activated.
Has anyone had their credits post on this yet?
Negative… I made the transaction on 2/11 got the email for both the lowe’s and $500 spent qualification, but no credit yet. It usually posts after a few business days, but wonder if AE has changed its process. I’ll wait for another couple days and then will contact AE to see what’s going on.
Is it possible that it is already no longer possible to add this offer? I thought I saw the offer on my account 2 days ago, but it wouldn’t add. Now I went back to add it and it is gone. Is this possible, or is it a glitch of some kind? Could it be gone that fast?
Got the 10% up to $50 on Business Platinum. Thanks for the heads up!
