Our Verdict
Keep in mind you can only save this offer on one American Express card so choose wisely. SimplyCash which earns 5% back at office supply stores then that’s an easy choice. Otherwise, the Blue Business Plus might be a good one. It excludes bulk gift card purchases, but other gift card purchases are fine. You can currently get Visa gift cards with no purchase fees in store.
DP: Did not get $40 credit for buying 2 VGC’s at B&M store.
why not? mine did get a cr
Never mind. I got it today. Guess I just needed to carp about it here.
DP: Purchased 2x $200 VGCs at dotcom (nearest B&M is 150 miles from me)… with fingers crossed that they really were only concerned about bulk GCs per the T&C, and that regular GCs would fly. But, alas… Received $0.10 statement credit on P1 and $0.05 statement credit on P2. Both transactions had small “fillers” (actually cheap crap I needed… not intended to trip them up with the amount or anything). Boo.
Check again. Looks like it’s been taking a while to post.
always got on BBP. Staples are good…
After buying $400 of Uber gift cards, I had my order cancelled silently (no e-mail/etc). The order shows up as cancelled when logging into my Staples account. Has anyone else experienced this?
Could not find this on my Amazon business card this time. Had this offer last time for up to $50 back instead of $40.
I’ve found more of these offers on BBP card than any other cards
Got it
I will sock drawer Raddison Rewards
if i could find vgc to buy… yday arrived 1 hr after the store was open, all was gone; mgr said a line of waiting ppl were outside & each grabbed 5; not sure when it will be restocked; drove another 20 miles to another store, got only 3
How is wasting so much time and gas worth it to you?
haha, i have plenty of time & $ for gas; just wish that the item wasn’t gone or hidden that quickly
so buying $400 in Visa Gift Cards this week should trigger this?
Yep.
Do we have a definition of “gift cards in bulk purchases?” Would that exclude two $200 VGCs? (Given AmEx’s recent history I’m a little concerned about clawbacks with that language.)
Historically it has been fine.
It likely means this https://www.doctorofcredit.com/amex-offer-deals-work-purchase-gift-cards/#Corporate_Gift_Card_Exclusion
Makes sense. Thank you!
bulk purchase has a separate processing site. typical buy will be ok
I was only able to add offer successfully to my authorized account. When I went to add to my own account, it was there, but gave me an error of something like “already added to another of your cards.” Bummer if that it a control that AMEX put into place; however, better than clawing back the offer afterward. **** Never mind, there was hiccup in adding it, but it is there now.
As a lazy person I use my 5% Simplycash and use PayPal Here to send these to myself eating the fee, but its still nets me $40+ with the cashback from the card. Thanks!
