[Expired] Amex Offers: HappyCards.com $15 or 1,500 Points with $100 Purchase

Deal has expired, view more happycards deals by clicking here.

Update 5/13/19: Seems like another round of people has been targeted for this deal.

The Offer

Check your Amex Offers for following deals:

  • Get $15 statement credit when spending $100 at Happycards.com with a registered Amex card.
  • Get 1,500 points when spending $100 at Happycards.com with a registered Amex card.

The Fine Print

  • Valid through 7/5/19.
  • $100 can be spent in a single transaction or across multiple transactions.

Our Verdict

Nice way to lock in a decent discount at so many different merchants. Happy cards function like Visa cards at those locations so they should work on any purchase without limitation at those designated locations.

We wrote more about Happy cards in this dedicated post. I wasn’t aware there was a dedicated site for buying those, but apparently Blackhawk created a special site for this, and now they are running an Amex Offer deal there. Not sure if they ever runs sales on Happycards.com; would be sweet to stack this Amex deal with another discount. No shopping portals are available for Happycards.com.

Anyone received points after completing offer. The $ offer posts..not the points (when called they say stuck in pending).

Anyone get the Amex trigger email after buying? A little worried because I got the happy guy card and it showed up as Blackhawk network on my card (which is excluded from the Amex offer) and haven’t gotten the trigger email. It’s been three days already.

Immediate email with subject “Great news! You just used your Amex Offer for $15.00 cash back at Blackhawk Network Giftcards”

Can we buy gift cards with these? Terms say not allowed. Home depot is the only store that looks useful.

This offer just popped up on my BCP. If you had checked before and were not targeted, maybe take another look and see if it was recently added.

I just order the $100 “Guy” card. I had to deactivate uBlock in order to load the happycards website.

I will ultimately attempt to buy third-party GC at Home Depot which worked for me (self check-out) in DEC/18 no problem in Portland, OR.

Last note, I got the “Great News…” email from AMEX instantly.

I bought two $50 ebay GCs without issue in self checkout today at Home Depot with the “Guy” Happy Card.

all my orders are getting cancelled, and I’ve never bought from this place before.
Do they use the same backend as GCM/GC.com?

Mine are all getting cancelled as well. Try turning off your VPN if you are using one. I turned mine off and I’m still in order being reviewed status, not the immediate cancelled order email.

Can I use the happy card to buy gift cards at home depot or bed bath and beyond?

Yes, you can if the cashier allows

Since you swipe the card yourself, the cashier probably won’t notice what you’re using. That’s been my experience at BB&B.

If your HD has selfcheck out counters, you can do it there w/o cashier intervention. Just don’t overdo it with several GCs so as not to attract attention.

With BBB, the ones I go to don’t have SCOs so I have not tried there.

Has anyone tried using Happy Cards to buy open loop GCs at BB&B in the last month or so? I tried buying a VGC in mid-March at BB&B using a Happy card, and the register would not allow it, even though I had bought VGCs successfully at BB&B a couple of weeks earlier. I then tried a MCGC and that worked fine. I wonder if this has happened to anyone else more recently.

I’m thinking of getting a ‘Happy Student’ card then using it at JCPenney to get an Amazon GC.

Since the Happy Card will run as credit I don’t see a problem with this working.

JC Penney sells third party GCs? Is that nationwide?

-G-

I don’t know if it’s nationwide, but my local store has a very small selection (a small rack on wheels). The rack has JCP cards on one side (usually presented as the ‘front’) and third-party GCs on the back.

They have Subway, Amazon Kindle, and a few others I can’t recall right away, but nothing really interesting (other than Amazon).

I think they are able to keep the Kindle GCs in stock because most people aren’t aware they are the same as ‘regular’ Amazon GCs and don’t have to be used with a Kindle.

-G- Can you please confirm that you were able to buy an Amazon Kindle card at JCP with a Happy card? I was thinking of doing the same thing with the Happy Brides now on sale at Safeway, but would appreciate a DP before I stock up.

Back when Wells Fargo had a points deal on JC Penney, I found Lowe’s gift cards there in both the NYC and Houston areas.

Home Depot is really the only appealing option in my eyes (that one’s on the “Guy” card), 15% off there is pretty darn decent.

Back in Dec 2018, I used the “Guy” HappyCard GC to buy other gift cards at Home Depot in Portland, OR which also makes this the ideal version to target.

I ordered a 1, $100 card, no problem. Got the “You’ve redeemed your offer” email from Amex within 10 minutes of order. Hopefully, I can use online and double-stack with eBates!

Yes, free shipping. Total cost was $100 for a $100 gift card (before the Amex bonus.)
