Our Verdict
We had the same offer from Marriott which just ended, now there’s another roll out. I think this one is showing on all cards, so choose which card you want to use it on (e.g. if you have the Marriott Amex, you might want to save it on that card).
You can also save this on third-party Amex cards via the Amex Connect site (direct link). That should enable you to get this offer more than once if you have any third party cards, like the Wells Fargo Amex.
Pretty nice offer here, just remember third-party bookings won’t work for this since the charge has to go through Marriott. In the past, gift cards purchased at the Marriott desk also triggered the Amex Offer, despite the terms excluding it. Not all Marriott’s have gift cards or know how to process them, so keep that in mind; they often have to call the manager or a senior CSR to figure out what to do.

Staying at a Moxy for four night – which will officially put me at Titanium status after it processes. Fingers crossed the $40 off $200 offer on my AMEX Marriott Biz card will apply.
Just added. Room rate for upcoming stay is only $160 bucks and it’s a Fairfield that just has a small convenience kiosk. Does anyone know? Would charging snacks from there to the room to get to $200 work to meet the requirement?
Just stayed at Sheraton for two days:
Skip housekeeping and get $5 food/store/snacks credit.
Also, play the game at check in, pick one of four cards for a treat: I got a free movie. I saw a French movie with English subtitles free from On Demand Pay Per View.
Has anyone tried internationally? I know the offer says only US and US territories.
You already know the answer that the offer is only good in US and US territories, Dont you think the system can identify WHERE the charge is being billed? Seriously?
Free $40, have to stay at a Marriot anyway
Any idea if this will work with Westin Willow Villas at Palm Desert? Seems to be a Marriott property…. But not sure…
Perfect timing! Thanks Doc
I don’t see it on any of my cards or on Amex Connect. Sadface.
::edit:: Direct link provided above shows the offer, but entering a card gives the not-targeted message: “Based on the Card Number you’ve entered, you can enroll in this offer and other personalized offers by logging into your American Express Account.” Looks like maybe they somehow hide it on amex conect if you’re not targeted now?
Thanks for posting this. Saves me $40
Can’t remember how the last one worked, think this is a one time $200 charge or cumulative?
Guessing it’s one time. Normally when it’s multiple purchases there is some language saying so. This one says a “minimum” $200.
