AmEx Offers: Marriott, Get $100 Back With $400 Spend

Update 1/6/25: Offer is back through 3/31/25; again there are various versions of the offer.

The Offer

Check your AmEx Offers for one of the following deals:

  • Earn $140 statement credit after using your enrolled eligible Card to spend a minimum of $350 USD in one or more purchases on room rate and room charges at participating Marriott Bonvoy properties in the U.S. and U.S. territories, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean from 9/24/2024 to 11/23/2024.
  • There are many other versions of this offer: $50 off $250, $100 off $500, $100 off $375, etc.

The Fine Print

  • Qualifying Purchases Offer valid only at participating Marriott Bonvoy® properties in the U.S. and U.S. territories, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean.
Reservations must be made online at Marriott.com, through the Marriott Bonvoy® App or by calling 1-888-236-2427.
Excludes Marriott Vacation Club®, Marriott Grand Residence Club®, Design Hotels™, Protea Hotels®, Marriott Executive Apartments®, Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy®, Vistana Signature Network and Vistana Residence Network.
Excludes gift card purchases, online retail purchases, hotel amenities and purchases of Marriott Bonvoy® points.
Qualifying purchase means a purchase at a participating Marriott Bonvoy® property made during the offer period with your enrolled American Express Card and which is in an amount totaling at least $350 USD as posted to your account, following conversion from a foreign currency, if applicable, in accordance with your Card Member Agreement.
Offer only valid on room rate and room charges.
Offer not valid for lodging stays that are paid for before the promotion start date or after the promotion end date.

Our Verdict

Nice savings for Marriott stays. Based on prior experience, buying a gift card at the front desk works to trigger the AmEx Offer credit as well, despite the terms indicating otherwise.

There’s a separate offer to get $300 off $1,200 at Homes & Villas by Marriott.

Anyone have a data point of using this for international marriot booking outside of the U.S. and U.S. territories, the Caribbean, Canada and Mexico?

Trying to see if I can get the credit for asia bookings

Can the secondary holder and primary holder claim the same bonus and split the bill to qualify for up to 300 off 700 if we both got the $150 off $350?

Would springhill suites count if it’s a marriott property? Anyone know how I can tell?

Yes. Any property website part of marriott.com is part of the deal.

Last time, I stayed in Canada with Delta by Marriott and that triggered it when the payment description showed whatever that chain was part of before.

It’s not “any” hotel that’s part of the website, there are a few brand exclusions like St Regis, Ritz, etc.

I have a question regarding this. The Marriott property that sells gift cards near me is RC. This offer excludes that property so buying gift card at RC is pointless right?

$50 back for $250 spent on both my Amex Platinum and Delta Platinum. Not bad, but not enough to get me to bite.

Nothing on my Bonvoy Brilliant card. Nor blue and blue cash. 🙁

I have a good one off $375 but excludes all the good brands and the 1 brand I actually need it for (Ritz). Does anyone have one that does not exclude Ritz?

Just buy a gift card and then use the gift card there.

I hope it shows up on my Gold card tomorrow. I have two trips. Chase also has one, 10% off up to $80. As someone else mentioned, that may be better. The Chase one is a single use whereas AMEX offers usually allow multiple charges up to the max.
