PayPal select is a new service offered by PayPal, it combines a cash back portal, special offers and increased customer support to “select” PayPal customers. There are no additional fees to join, but you must receive an invitation to join (if you receive this invitation you are automatically enrolled).
Benefits
There are a couple of different benefits that paypal select has
- Cash back portal: Paypal select has certain merchants that will give you cash back on all of your purchases. This works similar to other portals such as topcashback.
- Offers: Other merchants will offer you a fixed cash back amount when you spend over a set amount. E.g, spend $50 at Target and receive $10 cash back. This is similar to other programs such as American Express sync or the Chime card.
- Better customer service: Members who are paypal select receive “first-in-line access to PayPal customer service”
Joining
You cannot join PayPal select directly, you must be invited by PayPal. At the moment they are inviting their “top customers” but haven’t disclosed what they consider to be a top customer.

Our Verdict
How good PayPal select is will be determined by how many merchants they can sign up and what rates and offers they can negotiate. This is becoming a more crowded space as competitors to American Express offers and daily deal sites flood the market.
