  • Great Southern bank is offering 2.48% APY on its money market account if your balance is $2,500 or more

Avoiding Fees

This account has no monthly fees to worry about

Our Verdict

Not a bad high yield savings option, the higher interest accounts available either have a higher minimum balance or a lower maximum balance. Shame you can’t fund it with a credit card.

I opened an account just for the credit card funding – $5k (Visa/MC). Rejected because all 3 credit bureaus frozen. Rep said to unfreeze Equifax then try again and it worked. Not a hard pull or soft pull according to bank rep but they used it to ask the identity questions.

No way to open additional accounts without going through the entire application process again, which is a hassle.

Save the disclosure docs they sent out – it’s the only thing that shows your account number and isn’t available once you log in to the account.

Charge is pending but exceeds my cash advance limit so it should finalize as a purchase.

Chex Sensitive. I’ve tried twice in six months and I’ve been denied.

DP: applied online 1/17/20 using my zip code in Kansas City, MO (only getting .61% money market). Approved, same day.
Funded $4800 with Chase Ink Business Preferred, and it appears to be coding as a purchase as well.

DP: Applied for account online 1/9/20 using my home zip code in Illinois; approved on 1/10/20. Funded $2,000 with CIP, appears to be pending as a purchase; cash advance limit set to $100.

Any updates on funding with a cc? Looking to fund $5k with a CIP to meet min spend.

I came here to confirm another recent DP for chase… not CIP, but I funded $5k on CIU and it just officially cleared as a purchase today with bonus now showing as pending!

Just tried funding with Citi AA Biz. It got declined because it was coding as cash advance and that limit was less than I was trying to fund

I wonder if it will change from cash advance to purchase assuming you’re cash advance limit is high enough for the funding to not get auto-declined.

In the application, I chose “Non-permanent resident” and later got an email saying “Due to our online account opening requirements, we regret to inform you that we are unable to approve your application at this time. If you are able to visit one of our banking center locations, they may be able to assist you further.” Seems like permanent resident and citizen only.
