Early Account Termination Fee
I wasn’t able to find any mention of one in the fee schedule.
Our Verdict
Might be able to find other links for other markets, previous offers have been for AR, IL, KS, MO, OK, TN, TX. Bonus definitely looks worth doing and is better than the $600 bonus previously offered. There is also a $50 referral bonus that might stack, please do not share your referrals in the comments until we confirm it does stack.

Has anyone received their (monthly) bonus for statement cycle Nov.10th through Dec. 9th?
I think the terms mentioned that the bonus would be paid on the statement date each month so it should have posted on the 9th. What options did you use for DD?
I haven’t applied yet. I’m waiting until Dec.20th for that cylcle that runs through Jan.19th for “Simply Checking”.
Any known bank transfers counting as Direct Deposits working or not? I’m trying a push from Checking accounts for Ally, Chase, and Wells Fargo. I’ll update with how it goes, thanks
I opened the Classic Checking which has a statement period from the 10th to the 9th and am trying Fidelity CMA and Wise for the first cycle. I’ll be doing TD in the second cycle to see if that works. I’ll update when I have more information.
Are you close to a branch?
P1 and P2 are considering opening, but we are not in footprint (only in state).
Yes I’m in footprint and opened online. When I submitted the application, it said it had to be reviewed and then the next business day I received an email with approval to complete the application online.
Worst app experience to date. Had to to it on my phone, requires scanning ID and live selfie, and PC camera wasn’t an option I guess. Pending review, chex 18/12, worth trying.
Did get approved! Will be trying for $900 with Fidelity CMA, can meet the smaller bonus with legit DD. There is a requirement to login to online or mobile during the first statement and again within 90 days. Wichita, KS, there is a branch in town
We’ve a secondary rental home in one of the AR targeted branch. P1 and P2 applied with just Chex unfrozen and all 3 bureaus frozen. Went pending for review and in couple of hours got an email asking to upload social security cards. Approved immediately after sharing. Linked an external bank using plaid and funded $25. Enrolled in Mobile banking as well. Chex – lol/6/12/24 months. (I think Chex count doesn’t matter but they’ll double check your DL address whether it’s near the targeted branch, I guess). For 1st month, planning to test with Mercury Buzz a/c Or Fidelity CMA and see whether it gets the 1st month bonus. If those doesn’t work, then will do real DDs – which will get the full bonuses from the 2nd, 3rd and 4th months. Fingers Crossed!
William Charles The bonus terms clearly states the referral can be stacked along with this bonus. When are you planning to open the referral forum?
Can you share your actual Chex stats? Mine are currently high and am planning to wait until next month to try but I do hope you’re right that they’re not sensitive so long as the address is near a branch. People have still been getting rejected though if in the targeted state.
Chex – 31/12, 14/6..
Not sensitive then, to say the least. lulz
I’m not planning on opening it, people keep breaking the rules and trying to force referrals in every thread.
In that case, are you okay if we can drop our emails and ask folks to email us, if they need referrals?
No. No means no, not try to find a work around. I actually set a timer for this post and whenever somebody breaks the rules the timer is reset
Anybody that leaves a referral link when it specifically states it’s not allowed will be perma banned.
The actual terms mention nothing about having to open in branch or live in a certain area so if those are requirements, it’s definitely misleading
Is it already expired?
Neil Which region did you apply for? The one for KS & MO says “Eligible Customers who open a new Simmons Bank Classic Checking, Coin Checking, or Simply Checking account (an “Account”) online or at an eligible branch between October 3, 2024 and December 31, 2024…”.
TN
Denied for Austin, TX location.
Reason : chex (lol/24)
Does anyone know when the first statement closes?
I’d like to try to make the DD first statement but it will be split over two payments.
Don’t want to get stuck getting only 100 instead of 300 because the statement cuts off in between
3 The four (4) statement cycles will begin with the first statement cycle after the Account Opening Date. In the event you open your Account in the middle of a statement cycle, the first statement cycle will be the partial statement cycle that includes the Account Opening Date. The statement cycle for Simply Checking begins on the 20th of one (1) month and runs through the 19th of the following month. The statement cycle for Classic Checking begins on the 10th of one (1) month and runs through the 9th of the following month. The statement cycle for Coin Checking begins on the 20th of one (1) month and runs through the 19th of the following month.
Good to know! I’ll wait a few days
Just got off the phone with banker, was told a few things that would be helpful.
1. Confirmed refer a friend does indeed stack with all promo codes, and you can refer for other markets as well, ie I can refer for arkansas promo living in missouri. You have to first register via the referral link, then open an account from the email you receive or in branch. My banker recommended opening it in person tho, as online the promo code “may” not automically apply going through the referral link. Don’t know if this will work out tho as they may ask name of person referring you?
2. Was told the promo codes are only for the market advertised for, they couldn’t give me an exact miles away from branch they use to determine who is included tho, but did confirm if u go in branch they should be able to open the account and apply code.
3. Banker also told me any ACH transfer would count for direct deposit requirements. Confirmed ebay should work, and said external bank ach transfers should work too. The bonus should appear on next statement tho so should give people time to make sure hopefully.
Dude dont be foolish and ask them about how satisfying direct deposit for promos work man. You should know better. We’ve all said it here a million times.
Foolish? I asked about my ebay business deposits, a very legitimate one that should work. The banker is the one who offered all other info after that without me asking.
Okay sorry I was worried because I’ve seen others ask other questions blatantly about the creative DDs
Guys, don’t get tricked by some bank reps saying any ACH will count as DD. The Terms clears states bank to bank transfers DON’T count –
Qualifying direct deposits are electronic automated clearinghouse (ACH) deposits of your paycheck, pension, or government benefits (such as Social Security) from your employer or the government. Non-qualifying direct deposits include person to person payments (such as Zelle, Venmo, Paypal, or others), bank, or other electronic money transfers, such as those made through internet payment services.
Doc_Liker I’m going to give a try…As I mentioned in an earlier post, I plan to open a Coin Checking acct on 11/20 and set up DDs using my $2500/month Social Security payments (earliest one will deposit on 1/3/25). With that plan, I won’t get any bonus in the 1st statement cycle of 11/20 through 12/19. However, with the ACH info from Chris, I will push $7500+ from Ally shortly after opening the account. If I get $300 from that, then I will keep using ACH pushes and discontinue sending my SS payments to Simmons. If I don’t get $300 from the ACH push, then I’ll continue to send my SS payments to Simmons and get $100/month in the 2nd through 4th statement cycles.
Chris Thanks for the info on ACH transfers qualifying as DDs. My real DDs from Social Security is about $2500/month. Doing big ACH transfers will get me the bigger bonus.
Thank you for confirming, the terms also mentioned it should stack:
This offer cannot be used in combination with any other promotion (the Refer-A-Friend Program is excluded from this limitation).
