Our Verdict
Looks like this is in response to the National one, two, free promotion. I don’t really rent cars so I have no idea which deal is better, but feel free to discuss that in the comments below.
Hat tip to Running With Miles
Has anyone actually gotten a confirmation email about successfully registering for the promo? It says after two days you’ll get one if successfully registered but I never have. I’ve tried to register a few times of the past couple of months but weirdly never got a confirmation and can’t find a page tracking my earnings (like national has for their promo). Thanks for any pointers.

For the promo, one thing to note is that National has a point system as part of their 1,2,Free so you can get an extra free day from that promotion by doing the point-specific offers as well. Easy enough to get a couple hundred points by doing free things (download app, sign up for emails, etc.) and doing specific things when you rent (rent via app, Emerald checkout).
Another thing to note for National Exec. Elites is that your free days can be used for any car class (excluding trucks), whereas the free days from Avis cap out at full-size. Only a subset of the population but something to note anyways.
I just switched a National rental over to Avis, and saved a few bucks too.
I do prefer the National pick up experience….but the price differential was too much.
And the promo makes it sort of equal, although my likelihood of actually being able to collect on it is low.
I have never in my life actually gotten anything from a Car Rental Loyalty program. Its as elusive to me as an Open Table reward.
Perfect timing for me
National is better because it stacks with the standard 1 rental free every 5 for top tier status.
Have both Emerald excutive elite and Avis Preferred Plus status. I find that Emerald is often much more expensive than Avis – also the Daily getaway deals past few springs even better as $30/day even in expensive markets.
They still have a Business offer of rent 7 days get a free day. It seems like a great deal if you combine them. https://www.avis.com/en/business-programs/small-mid-sized-business/partner-1130
