AwardWallet Increasing Prices To $49.99 Per Year (From $10 For Grandfathered Customers)

AwardWallet is increasing prices to $49.99 per year, some users are currently paying $10 per year under a grandfathered price but that will stop on December 18, 2024. The full e-mail sent out is as follows:

We are writing to let you know that the price of AwardWallet Plus will be increasing to $49.99 per year on December 18, 2024. We are truly grateful for your support over the years. As one of our very early customers, we’ve kept your subscription cost at $10 per year—even as the price of AwardWallet Plus increased for new subscribers. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to offer this discount going forward. This change helps us ensure the security and reliability of the product we all love and allows us to invest in improvements and exciting new features. Rest assured that you won’t be paying more for just the same product—we think you’re going to enjoy what’s coming.

This is disappointing as at the $10 price point it was an easy keep.

I paid $10 since the beginning, I cancelled it today after receiving that email. Surprised that it would go up 5x, so ‘no thank you’ in this camp.

Cheers,

PedroNY

Been a subscriber since the early days and no email.

Somehow I received an email on my secondary account which is not subscribed for buying up to 5 years at $30/year and current subscribers aren’t getting that offer.

That is ridiculous. I love AwardWallet but it isn’t worth $50 a year when AA, Delta, and Southwest all do not sync. I’d be willing to pay $20 for it, but being somewhat slapped in the face with no discount compared to a new account is awful.

$50 is fine with me. I can’t tell you how many times Award Wallet alerts have saved me from expiring miles/points. I’ve been with them since the start, and they keep track of 103 accounts for me. For a serious point/mile person, paying for Award Wallet is a no-brainier.

I already told them that I won’t be renewing they can have me for $10 as a perpetual customer or get nothing.

I can do it manually easily if it comes to that.

Not worth 49.00 and really it wasn’t worth 30.00 last year

The irony is that if they had gradually raised the price every year they’d probably lose fewer customers and have made more money

What are some other alternatives others have been using or familiar with?

I’ve enjoyed the $10 for years. Been thinking that I wouldn’t mind paying a slightly higher price for the value. 5x in one go though doesn’t seem like a wise business move. Also considering that it doesn’t work with the big 3 US airlines, plus other bugs and features needing human intervention, this is a very high price to pay for something that only half works.

Agree. It’s useful, but the amount of times I have to manually login or get codes etc. is a lot. So really only half the numbers properly synch without intervention. Much harder sell at $50.

I am curious, what are the benefits of this tool? Wouldn’t just using a spreadsheet to track when you get a new sign up bonus be easier? Might be off by a few thousand points, but that should make much difference?

Miles expiration. Yes, Excel/sheets are just as effective. Also, not giving some random 3rd party all your miles data.
Last I knew in order to get AA expiration notices you have to give them access to the email account associated with your AA account, but they have “industry” level security, so all good 😉 /s
