Away Luggage Offering Up To 50% Off Sitewide; Use Up Amex Green Credits (9/9-9/15)

[Update 9/9/20: Live now. It’s showing an end date of September 15.]

Starting tomorrow (Wednesday, 9/9/20), Away luggage will be offering up to 50% off sitewide. This is their first-ever sale offering.

I’m not sure how their prices go and if there will be good deals for ordinary purchasers, but it’s certainly a good time to use up your $100/$150 Away credit from an Amex Green applications or any $20 referral credits you may have.

Reportedly, in Away stores the sale has already started, but online sale is only tomorrow (Wednesday) – I suppose it’ll start midnight tonight. No word on how long the sale will last. You can find some sample deals here. I don’t see Away showing on shopping portals.

Has anyone’s order shipped? Still saying pending shipment for me, despite ordering on 9/9

I am so pissed off!!! The order that went through my paypal got cancelled. I got an email stating “will give me a refund & $50 off coupon for use in the future” What the hell that is not even close to %50 off deal. Two charges still pending on my Amex card but no confirmation email nor a refund.

They messed up big time. They owe us another sale and this time they are ready for it. I think they should plan in for cyber Monday! They owe us that!!!

Charges posted in less than 24 hours for me (and many others it appears), still haven’t gotten anymore than the 1 confirmation email. One order still shows pending shipment, the other comes and goes from the account. The charges that posted were the correct amount. The orders online still have wrong bags and added bags.

I see on Twitter people are starting to receive refund notifications, I haven’t gotten one yet but I’m expecting them to take that route with me when they get around to my orders. No one with refunded orders is getting any other offers from Away as an apology (the stuff they ordered is long sold out), in fact the phrasing Away is using is “to make it up to you we’ve issued a refund”- that’s literally required by law lol.

Got an email! They said they are out of stock and can’t fulfill my order, will give me a refund & a $50 off coupon for use in the future. Uhh- only reason I attempted to purchase was because they were 50% off. $50 one time use? LOL.

My costco carry ons are still going strong after 8 years, zipper is smooth, wheels are intact, hardly any scratches. Target is selling Away knock offs. I dont like 50/50 storage anymore, so annoying to open at hotels, compared to the lid type.
Any reason to spend even 50% price on Away? they are not even light weight > 8lbs

Looks like the issues have been fixed. Just ordered and there were no hiccups in placing the order. Got a confirmation email as soon as I finalized the purchase.

They never have sales. I believe the email I received stated first sale ever.

Im wondering why they decided to have their 1st sale, is it because no one is traveling so they need to get rid of inventory, or are they in financial trouble, any thoughts?

I think ALL luggage companies are in trouble. Look at Briggs & Riley’s price reductions in the last month. Lowest ever. So, I bought 4 pieces for the price of two. eBags has changed and is owned by samsonite now. I think all the companies are bleeding pretty bad.

Pretty sure you summed it up. Why spend $$$ on fancy luggage when you won’t be traveling? And if you travel for work that’s probably nixed for the foreseeable future so nobody to impress with your luggage if that was your shtick… I suspect the bleeding was not pretty and someone came in and said
Step 1: liquidate the inventory

Any wise soul who hasn’t jumped on this sale I highly recommend you don’t! Folks are having issues left and right. Multiple charges. (Or my special issue of the order being changed to colors I don’t want and having extra suitcases added.)

If you insist on ordering SCREENSHOT EVERYTHING. I placed my order the screen never confirmed just sat in a pending stage and I was able to bring my account up in another tab and see the order so I screenshot it. Just a few minutes later Away changed what was in the order and added to it and my email confirm has the stuff I didn’t order in it. If I didn’t have that screenshot from a minute or two after I ordered I would have no proof I didn’t place that order. And they did that to me on both of my orders.
