The Offer
- Axos Bank is offering a $300 bonus when you open a new checking account and complete the following requirements:
- Open a cashback checking & best savings bundle
- Use promo code FREEDOM300
- Set up a direct deposit of $1,000 per month and earn $100 bonus per month (up to $300)
The Fine Print
- To be eligible to earn all or a portion of the cash incentive as part of the “FREEDOM300″ $300 promotion, an Axos Bank Rewards Checking account that includes the promotional code ” FREEDOM300″ must be opened between November 1, 2023, at 12 a.m. PST and July 31, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. PST. Axos Bank reserves the right to limit each primary account holder to one (1) checking account promotional offer per year, and customers who have held primary ownership of an Axos Bank or Axos Bank for Nationwide checking account at any time in the past 12 months may be disqualified from the ” FREEDOM300″ offer. Promotional terms and conditions are subject to change or removal without notice. Bonus cash may be taxable and reported on IRS Form 1099-MISC. Consult your tax advisor. After meeting the initial requirements mentioned above, the amount of cash bonus earned will depend on meeting the additional requirements outlined below:
- To earn up to a $300 bonus, you must be approved for your new Axos Bank CashBack Checking account, fund it within 30 days of account opening, and have qualifying direct deposits that total at least $1,000.00 each calendar month. A cash bonus of up to $300 can be earned in the following manner during the first four (4) statement cycles. A statement cycle is a calendar month consisting of the days your account was open during that month. A maximum of three (3) payouts of $100 for each calendar month that the CashBack Checking account is receiving the direct deposit requirement, the bonus can be earned during the first four (4) statement cycles, and the bonus will be deposited into your Axos Bank CashBack Checking account within 10 business days following the end of the statement cycle in which the direct deposit requirement was met. Your Axos Bank CashBack Checking account must be open and in good standing at the time the bonus is paid to be eligible to receive the bonus, and your Axos Bank CashBack Checking account must remain open for 120 days, or an early closure fee of up to $300 may apply, equal to the amount of the total bonus earned up to $300.
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
No monthly fee to worry about
Early Account Termination Fee
Axos Bank Rewards Checking account must remain open for 120 days, or an early closure fee of up to $300 may apply, equal to the amount of the total bonus earned up to $300.
Our Verdict
You can try to stack this with another $150 via Swagbucks but the terms do state it can’t be stacked with other promotions (in the past it has worked though). This is significantly better than the other $300 bonus as the requirements are so much easier. If you’re eligible I think this is worth doing and we will add this to our list of the best bank account bonuses.

Has anyone gotten their $100 from September? I did a Chase Biz deposit and haven’t seen anything.
Yes, I did. Posted Oct 1
I opened 3/13/24, successfully received bonus, and I logged in today to find the checking account closed? Last statement goes through 9/2/24, so the closure was within the last couple weeks. I didn’t request closure – Savings is still open. I’m not upset, just curious if Axos auto closed anyone else’s account?
Did you have a $0 balance?
That could be it – I zeroed out the account on 7/2, so perhaps they only allow 2 months at $0 before they close.
Okay! This is helpful info. 🙂
Very common that banks close zero balance accounts without notice. WF used to do this after just two weeks.
Early in my churning adventure, I was a victim of exactly that (WF).
Gadget - Bank Bonus Geek 🔗 Will the bank charge EATF if they auto close your account? The terms of this offer say $300 charge if closed early.
Not that I have ever seen. Generally, they aren’t going to put a zero balance account in the negative and the system probably isn’t setup to charge it.
Makes sense. Thank you! Are you keeping your account open for 4 months post bonus?
Yes. I opened last minute so I am just starting.
3/27: Opened
4/17: $1010 Wells Fargo push
4/30: $100 Cashback Credit
6/3: $1102 Wells Fargo push
6/30: $100 Cashback Credit
7/23: $1000 Wells Fargo push
7/31: $100 Cashback Credit
(I thought I wont be eligible for the rest of the bonuses after I missed May.)
Thanks Axos for making this easy.
Did you maintain $3k daily balance as per T&C ?
Has anyone gotten their $100 for August yet? Mine didn’t appear but not sure if it’s because of the holiday
Mine was posted yesterday.
Pushed 1501 for July on 7/8 and got $100 bonus on 7/31. Pushed $1500 on 8/8 but never got the bonus for August. I wonder if Fidelity is no longer working or if it’s because I did $1500 instead of $1501. For others $1500 seemed to work :/ Hoping for the sept bonus.
07/05 Opened Axos account
07/08 – Pushed $3,000 from Fidelity CMA
07/31 – Pushed another $1500 from Fidelity CMA
07/31 – Statement generated from 07/05 to 07/31 showing both my deposits
08/05 – Pulled $1,500 back to my Fidelity CMA
08/17 – Still haven’t received my bonus.
Any idea when will I get my bonus?
BTW, I already received my SwagBucks.
They always post last day of month.
So, last day of next month after generating statement
You have to maintain an average daily balance of $3000 which you didn’t do for every day in July because you had $0 in the account from July 1-8 and the $1500 push for 1 day wasn’t enough to bring that average up. However, you wouldn’t have qualified for July anyway because the promotion starts in the month 30 days after your account is opened so August is the first month you’ll qualify for.
Thanks for the explanation Lefty
Unless I am missing something the $3K balance is applicable to the $500 bonus but not the $300 bonus. Correct?
Has anybody had trouble/issues closing this with a pre-existing UFB HYSA? I would like to ultimately close the Axos checking/savings stuff, but keep my UFB savings. Just curious if there’s any goofiness there trying to do that.
5/20 – Opened
5/28 – Real $1000 DD
6/02 – $100 CashBack Credit
6/25 – Real $1000 DD
6/30 – $100 CashBack Credit
7/23 – Real $1000 DD
7/31 – $100 CashBack Credit
only $1,000?
not 1,500?
5/06: Opened
5/15: $1000 Fidelity push
6/02: $100 CashBack Credit
6/10: $1000 Fidelity push
6/30: $100 CashBack Credit
7/10: $1000 Fidelity push
7/31: $100 CashBack Credit
I had an Axos bank account it than past; however, I never received a bonus for it. Do you believe I could open a new account and apply for this bonus?
As long as the account has been closed 12 months or more, yes.
what does your dd code as for the type? is it just “deposit”?
Description
ACH Credit – MONEYLINE FID BKG SVC LLCPPD #My Name
Category

Type
Deposit
Do you withdraw the ACH push from Fidelity back i.e. after a couple of days just submit an ACH pull request from Fidelity or keep that money in Axos?
pushed it to a different bank
So my Fidelity push is showing as “ACH Credit – MONEYLINE FID BKG SVC LLCPPD<SomeNumber><MyName>. Is that how it posted for you as well? I presume you did a 300 promo?
Yes, see above. I did the promo on this page.
If I push a deposit then pull it a few days later(before 1st of month) will I still qualify?
Yes, you can spend/pull your DD as you like as soon as it’s in your Axos account.
Of course, you’ll only qualify for the $100 if the push counts as a DD.
I opened my account in July and did a $1K+ DD but no bonus today. P2 received $100 for the $500 promotion today.
Would appreciate any updates on this, thank you!
Which promo did you do?
Current one requires $1,500 dd, but you said you did $1,000+. How much did you do?
Current promo also requires an avg daily bal of $3k.
Could also be an issue w your dd method.
