Our Verdict
Previously there was a $250 bonus that didn’t require a direct deposit. Seems to be available in more states now due to the NYCB merger. The $350 checking bonus isn’t worth considering due to the $25,000 deposit requirement to keep the account fee free (remember account needs to be kept open for 180 days to avoid the closure fee). If you put those funds into a high yield account earning 5% you’d earn $625. We will add this bonus to our best bank account bonuses.

Any data points on if this average is “you need to have average $500 each cycle”, or “throughout the first 90 days, average $500”, it doesn’t have verbiage confirming either way. Either first three statement cycles average, or 90 day average. I’m hoping the 90 day average as I opened it mid month
New to bank bonuses, not sure “real” direct deposit from employer will post before bonus deadline. Trying to get Ready Checking bonus. Pushed money from Wells Fargo personal checking to Flagstar. Transaction posted to Flagstar as External Deposit DDA TO DDA. Will Flagstar count this as a direct deposit? Emailed Flagstar to ask and they took several days to send a canned response that did not answer my question. Checked DOC page “https://www.doctorofcredit.com/knowledge-base/list-methods-banks-count-direct-deposits/#Flagstar” but not enough data points. Scrolled through all 241 comments below but no answer there either. Also, if you don’t think the Wells Fargo transfer will count, what’s the fastest account I could open that would work? I don’t have a Fidelity CMA, Wise, or Chase Biz account but could try opening any or all of them.
8/8, open acct in the branch (OOS)
8/14, #1 DD (Fidelity)
9/17, #2 DD (Wise)
10/29, #3 DD (Chase Biz)
11/13, bonus posted on 100th day
Will schedule transfer money out soon.
did anyone get their bonus? been 90 days already, but still didn’t get the bonus yet
7/25 – opened with $50 deposit
7/31 – added $500
8/9 – $510 DD
8/23 – $510 DD
9/9 – withdrew $700
avg daily balance was over $500
called and was credited on 10/30
Bonus arrived after ~3 months on my account back in June. You probably need to contact them.
Those were my dates:
03/25 first deposit $50
03/28 +517
04/01 +520
05/09 +510 (real DD, just in case)
06/26 Bonus deposited
Are you eligible for this one if you did the NYCB $350 one last year? They don’t even have that type of checking account anymore.
Based on the terms below, no. However, feel free to try and be the DP that you want to see.
“If you have been paid a checking cash bonus previously, you are ineligible to receive this offer. “
Denied Chex.
Hopefully I can open in branch

Opened in branch after being declined online. Banker called over manager to override Chex but neither of them mentioned anything to me. Got 10 complimentary checks as well.
Via SM, CS confirmed that DD can be any ACH credit and does not have to be employer DD.
Denied chex online open. In branch no problem and no mention of chex. (o:
That’s good to know that they didn’t turn into Valley. 😀
Denied online, but they definitely use Chex in branch and for me personally banker has to communicate with a manager to approve Chex override. Was asked about the huge amount of inquiries and had to provide a reasonable explanation.
Yes.
For me the branch manager was who I was assigned to open the account.
She definitely was hesitant to set me up when looking at my chex info.
Glad she decided to look past all that.
