Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
Freestyle checking account has no monthly fee. The traditional savings account has no monthly fee as long as you have $200 in the account.
Early Account Termination Fee
If the account is closed within 90 days a $30 fee is charged.
Our Verdict
Seems like a relatively good bonus especially as no direct deposit is needed, just needed to know if it’s a hard or soft pull.

Another semi-useful DP: I did two $250 deposits each, a month apart, from Treasury Direct and Fidelity Cash Mgmt ($1k total). One (or both) successfully triggered the bonus.
Opened 7/18, 500 bonus posted today
I realize this promo is over, but commenting in case data points are useful down the road. At least one of the four banks/CUs I tried – US Bank, Chartway, Wells Fargo, Ally – worked as DD
Thanks for the DPs!
This one now says “this promo has ended.”
I’ve completed the 10 ($10) debit transactions. Does this have to be done every month or just once? Just checking to see if anyone has received a bonus yet.
Promo page now states, “This promo has ended”. Terms and conditions are still visible below the notice.
I applied late night of 8/17 but technically 8/18 since it was past midnight. Offer page was still visible at that time and today page states promo has ended. I called earlier today 8/19 to ask about “signature card” and if it was required, they said no but my DL was not enough for primary photo ID without SS card so I uploaded passport. Still haven’t gotten approved, when my account opens officially I’ll be calling in to make sure promo is applied on my account.
Is there a link to check the application status? My application went pending and I haven’t received any email or phone call ever since.
How about now, Any correspondence?
First Fidelity locked my account because I posted a direct deposit from my wife’s paycheck. Any deposits must match the name of the account holder (per First Fidelity). They locked my account a second time, for the same issue, when I sent money from my Marcus account to them. They said my name is not “Marcus”. I told them Marcus is the name of the bank and I am the owner of the Marcus account. The rep said she had never heard of Goldman Sachs or Marcus. These guys are complete bozos.
I don’t care who Mr. Sachs is and your name is not Marcus. Why didn’t your wife just cash her paycheck at Walmart?
Is there anything else I can help you with today?
Opened from CO. 1/6, 5/12. Had to send in some docs to get approved and wait for my initial ACH to hit before bank would allow me to access online banking. Saving account rate is currently 0.75%, FYI
Did they pull chex? What was your chex status before applying? I am trying to get an idea on how chex inquiries sensitive they are. Thanks!
Millennial Outrage got approved and had no Chex pull, so at least sometimes they don’t look at it. But you could freeze to be sure (I would).
You definitely need EQ thawed. Looks like like they only soft pull EQ. There’s always a small risk but it’s only EQ. I’d freeze both EX and Chex to be safe.
Great! Thank you! I’ll freeze my chex before applying.
