• Credit Union West is offering a bonus of $300 when you open a new Heritage High-Yield Checking  and complete the following requirements:
  • Deposit a total of $10,000 or more in new money into the new checking account within 10 days of account opening
  • Maintain an average daily balance of at least $10,000 for 90 days after account opening
  • Swipe Credit Union West debit card a minimum of 15 times within 30 days of account opening
  • Establish a direct deposit and have it post and settle to this account within 90 days of account opening

The Fine Print

• Bonus/Account Information: Promotional offer is only valid for one new Heritage High-Yield Checking account per person and not available to those whose account has been closed within 90 days or closed with a negative balance within the last 3 years.
• Limit one Heritage High-Yield Checking account per Social Security Number. $5 minimum balance required for membership account.
• Offer not valid with any other promotion.
• To receive the checking bonus: 1) Open a new Heritage High-Yield Checking account, which is subject to approval;
• 2) Deposit a total of $10,000 or more in new money into the new checking account within 10 days of account opening; 3) Maintain an average daily balance of at least $10,000 for 90 days after account opening; 4) Swipe Credit Union West debit card a minimum of 15 times within 30 days of account opening; and 5) Establish a direct deposit and have it post and settle to this account within 90 days of account opening. Micro-deposits do not qualify as a direct deposit for the bonus. Micro-deposits are small deposits, typically less than $1, that are sent to your account to verify it is the correct account. After you have completed all the above checking requirements, we’ll deposit the bonus in your new account within 30 days.
• The new money cannot be funds held by you at Credit Union West.
• To receive any of the above bonuses, the enrolled account must not be closed or restricted at the time of payout.
• Eligibility may be limited based on account ownership.

I wasn’t able to find the fee schedule, so I’m unsure if there are any early account termination fees or not

Our Verdict

Previously they offered a $100 checking bonus but that had no requirements. This has a lot more requirements but obviously 3x the bonus. Still worth doing for a lot of people but the deposit requirement really makes it more of a savings bonus than checking bonus.
