- MidFirst Bank is offering a bonus of $250 when you open a new checking account and complete two of the three following requirements:
- Set up a $250 minimum direct deposit
- Complete 10 debit card purchases
- Complete three Zelle® transactions on the MidFirst Bank Mobile Banking App
The Fine Print
- To receive the $250 checking offer, two of the three requirements below must be completed within 90 days of new account opening:
- 1) Have direct deposit of $250 or more made to the new account. The direct deposit must be an electronic deposit of the account owner’s paycheck, pension or government benefits (such as Social Security).
- 2) Complete 10 debit card purchases. Multiple swipes for the same purchase amount at the same merchant do not qualify, and ATM transactions are not eligible.
- 3) Complete 3 Zelle transactions on the MidFirst Bank Mobile Banking App. Zelle transactions conducted in another banking application are not eligible.
- Checking promotional offer is available in Arizona only, and is not available to those whose accounts have been closed within one year or closed with a negative balance.
- Must be age 17 or older.
- Promotional offer valid for accounts opened 8/1/2020 through 12/31/2020.
- Promotional offer subject to change without notice and is not valid with any other promotional offers.
- Account must be open and in good standing to receive an account credit.
- The applicable credit will be made to the eligible customer’s checking account within 30 calendar days following completion of all requirements.
- Account credits are considered interest and will be reported on IRS Form 1099-INT (or applicable tax form).
- Existing MidFirst Bank checking customers are not eligible for the checking offer.
- Checking offer is limited to one new promotional checking account per household. Go! Checking, Sun Devil Checking, and Sun Devil Solution Checking accounts are not eligible for offer.
- Account opening is subject to MidFirst Bank’s approval.
- Account Closing: Accounts closed within 90 days of opening may forfeit the amount equal to the promotional account credit received.
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
Looks like you can open the live free checking account for this bonus which has no monthly fee to worry about.
Early Account Termination Fee
Account must be kept open for 90 days to avoid any early account termination fee.
Our Verdict
Last year this was $300. Seems like they offer a similar bonus once a year. This is obviously slightly less but still a good offer so will add this to our list of the best bank account bonuses.

1/5/21 Received $250 Bonus in my Midfirst account
It appears that the bonus is paid 2 business days after you fulfill the requirements.
As of today (1/5/21) I have not received a debit card. I had to call in today to order it. I’ll keep $12 in the account and use the debit card for $1 once a month for a year upon which time I’ll close the account.
Zelle: If you have different email addresses and also a few Google Voice phone numbers, you can Zelle pay yourself rather than sending to someone else. It’s also good to have a business account somewhere so that you can direct deposit to which ever bank you’re trying to get a bonus reward. This is my 3rd bank bonus (Cap1360, BBVA, Midfirst).
How much did you do for Zelle?
Is this churnable?
I’m pretty sure it is. The fine print doesn’t have any limitations about past promotions/customers
Once a year. Most is a rolling calendar year
FYI… Depositing funds into your newly opened account from an external account will take 5 business days to fully post. You’ll notice your $100 balance that you funded the new account with but it will still show $0 available. Also of note, it will take 5 business days for your first Direct Deposit to hit the account as well.
From the MidFirst FAQ page:
How long does it take to receive funds from my non-MidFirst account?
Funds transferred into your account by external transfer will be available on the third business day following the scheduled external transfer date. Any funds transferred to a newly opened account will not be available until the fifth business day following the scheduled external transfer date.
Super easy bonus to get. Funded with Checking account $100 minimum. Then ACH’d $270(Moneylink) from Schwab Brokerage. Sent 3x $.5 Zelle payments to a friend. Bonus posted 2 days later.
The offer landing page is sketchy af and leads to another page without mention of the bonus. Has anyone had any issues opening and not receiving bonus?
P1 and P2 successfully did the bonus through those links. Paid within 7 days of meeting requirements too 🙂
Anyone know how long after acct is opened do the DD and other requirements have to be completed by? Is it 60 days? 90 days? Not stated in the terms anywhere, even on their site.
This is copied from the footnotes on the direct link —
Offer/Account Information: To receive the $250 checking offer, two of the three requirements below must be completed within 90 days of new account opening: 1)

Cannot open in-branch if OOS, they require an AZ address w/ proof (such as a utility bill).
