  • Important Information: Your direct deposit must be an electronic deposit of your paycheck, investment account, pension or government benefits (such as Social Security) from your employer or government agency.
  • After all the above requirements have been met, we will deposit the $300 bonus in your new checking account within 14 business days.

Avoiding Fees

Monthly Fees

Arizona checking account is the easiest to keep fee free (outside of the student account). The $7 monthly fee is waived if you do any of the following:

  • One or more direct deposit transaction(s) each month OR
  • ten or more debit card purchases a month OR
  • minimum $2,000 aggregate average daily balance in checking, savings and/or money market deposits OR
  • minimum $10,000 aggregate month-end loan balances

Early Account Termination Fee

Account must be kept open for six months otherwise you will forfeit the bonus

Our Verdict

This has now been confirmed to be a soft pull (even says so in the disclosures during sign up), I’d still opt out of overdraft protection but overall this bonus is well worth doing and we will add it to our list of the best checking bonuses.

  • DP on approval
Jan31, applied online, said pending and reviewing.
Feb 3, reached out by virtual banker asking my possible time for going over details.
Feb 6, I called back directly to banker since she did not respond my email. Asked sth about the recent account openning (I opened 4 accounts last month), I told her actually I opened them for the bonus. She understood that and approved my application

Just notice in the fine print the DD needs to be 1000 or more per month.

  • DP on approval: I applied online and it went pending review. A friendly CSR called the next day to confirm my identity and AZ address. She also asked about my recent Chex pulls, but I sensed it was more of a routine question than a concern (I told her I sold some investments last year and was moving the funds into various savings/CD accounts).

During the application, I requested to fund the accounts with my Citi Strata Premier ($500 max for checking and $2000 max for share savings). She charged the card while I was on the phone, thankfully, as Citi declined it initially and sent me a fraud alert text, which I cleared, and she successfully re-ran it (it coded as a purchase and counted toward my MSR on the new card).

Chex pulls at time of application: 2/1, 4/3, 7/6, 10/12
As mentioned below, the code to use is ONE-300. You will also see it in the URL address after you click on the "Redeem Offer Online" button.

  • The offer page refers to opening the account "using your promo code" but doesn't list a promo code anywhere. Are folks successfully applying without one?

  • Promo still valid.
12/08 Opened online, AZ resident. Funded $2500 on WF Active Cash, coded as purchase
    12/20 $1001 Work dd
    01/03 $1001 Work dd
    01/07 $300 bonus paid

  • Funding DP: Chase Ink Unlimited coded as purchase. Opened both checking & savings with max CC funding, $2500 total.

  • Just opened acct... They require a savings share in order to open the checking. Said savings allows up to 2k in CC funding in addition to the 500 for the checking. I did 2200 on Chase Ink Unlimited, coded as purchase.

  • they've been giving me hard time to open (ID too new, address on ID needs to be mailing address, need paystub instead of phone bill etc)

09/06/24 open in branch, deposit 20 cash
09/16/24 chase biz ach DD 1K+
    10/10/24 pending...

do I need to do another DD/ACH push?
    TIA

  • Just an FYI that they do look at Chex. Mine is frozen, and I got a call from a OneAZ rep that I had to unfreeze it to proceed with my application.
