Our Verdict
Previous best bonus was 40,000 points + $100. Sometimes you can get an additional $100 when doing a dummy booking, the current dummy booking offer is 20,000 points + $100 so I’d recommend waiting a few days/week to see if the dummy booking starts populating a 50,000 + $100 offer or not. Dummy booking with the additional $100 credit now available.
Amtrak points are worth the following:
- Non-Acela tickets points are worth 2.9¢ each
- Acela tickets points are worth 2.56¢ cent
- Monthly passes (2.9¢) must be booked via phone. Others report a rate of 1.7¢.
If you’re unfamiliar with Amtrak, I’d recommend reading our complete guide to AGR here. If you have questions about Bank of America cards then read this post. Added this to our best credit card bonuses. Worth doing if you can take advantage of the Amtrak points.
Hat tip to Help Me Build Credit
Has anyone received the $100 statement credit? I just got my 50,000 bonus on the November statement but still no sign of the statement credit.
I received the $100 statement credit a few weeks after opening the card, before the first statement even closed. No Amtrak purchase necessary.
I haven’t yet either. Got my 50,000 bonus on the December statement. I’ll wait until the Jan statement posts to see if I need to reach out to BoA.
Update: $100 statement credit posted 12/21.

Do you have to make an Amtrak ticket purchase to receive the $100 statement credit?
Applied on 9/11 – rejected – due to no other accounts with BOA. Opened a checking acct . Reapplied in Oct, and was approved.
Can someone please tell me how is the odds of approval for someone with one year of credit history and 2 hard inquiries?
38.4%
Just kidding. Nobody knows. But if you open a Bank of America checking account first, it should greatly increase your odds. Even better, put a decent amount of cash in there before applying for the card.
Lol! Thanks for the advice.
Got an email that the offer ends October 18, 2021
William Charles , Chuck Direct link for the BofA Amtrak 50K + $100SC offer is https://secure.bankofamerica.com/apply-now-services/credit-cards/initialize-card?requesttype=ICAO&campaignid=4054075
Also, per an email I received, the default 50K points offer will end on Oct 18, 2021.
Automatic approval, got instant card number. Used it a few and they eventually froze it til the physical arrived.
Need to know:
HOW LONG DO THE POINTS TAKE TO POST AFTER BONUS?
took me one billing cycle
A friend applied for this card last month when it still had the 20k offer and is now regretting it. Can he call Amtrak Guest Rewards (or should he call BoA) and ask if they’ll match the 50K offer? Do they even do that?
Bofa rarely matches
William Charles it should be noted that Amtrak has killed transfers to Choice and Hilton making this offer not nearly as valuable.
I picked up this card today with the $100 via dummy booking. A somewhat tough call as I was saving a slot for CSP when I’m out of 48-month jail later this year, but there’s unlikely to be a more generous offer than this one and I do make reasonably frequent use of Amtrak in Normal Times.
I don’t see the +$100 offer on the Amtrak site. Not sure about the dummy booking thing.
