Reader Matt got email on a new Bank of America card that they are extending the sign up bonus spending timeframe by 90 days due to COVID-19. Email was sent out automatically, so presumably everyone who has a new BofA card got the email.
Chase and Amex released similar offers with Chase adding 3 months for applications January through March and Amex adding 3 months for applications December through May. We don’t know the exact application timeframe that BofA’s extension applies to. There have been reports of others banks offering extensions upon request, but only these 3 have so far released automatic extensions.
Update: Multiple reports in the comments indicate that this is being sent out on business cards as well.
Opened the Premium Rewards mid April. Never got the email. Today I called and was informed that I have until October to complete the welcome bonus spend. Good stuff 🙂
Did you just call the number on the back of the card? I can’t reach a rep that even knows about signup bonuses.
Called BofA and they confirmed that my spend window was increased by 90 days for a business CC account. 180 days total.
I just received a physical letter from BoA saying my biz Preferred Rewards Card opened in Feb is extended
Capital One told me they won’t extend the offer. Reason being, online shopping is still available. I won’t be doing business with this bank in the future.
Interesting they did not seem to change the language in the offer on their website. I would expect they’d do the same for people who applied in April, but apparently not yet.

Capital one extending minimum spend DP:
Applied 12/08/19 for Spark “spend 50K within 6 months for 2K bonus”.
Called up wed (04/15) asked for an extension, She said she needs to fill out a request and I will get a callback. Yesterday (04/16) they called and told me I have untill 12/31/20 to spend the 50K (I’m currently at 32K) I asked for an email confirmation, she said unfortunately they can’t send a confirmation email but its noted on the account notes, after thanking her and hanging up, I called back and asked the regular CSR until when do I have to reach the 50K requirement, after a brief hold she said this account has until 12/31/20!
