Bank of America has announced that you can no longer write checks on Bank of America savings account. This is effective August 20 (so already in effect). You won’t be charged a NSF fee, but the paper checks will not be accepted.
Hat tip to reader R P
How were customers notified of this new policy I do not remember seeing any monthly statement that mentioned this policy change for example
Just got a survey about 25% points discount when booking thru BoA Travel Center.
Nbd… that’s what checking account is for…
No. checking account is for churning SUBs. which you can’t do if you have to keep it open.
Change their name to Bank of Virtual America.
Why? I don’t get it. Is that a reference to something happened recently with Bank of America?
Your mouth can still write checks that your ass can’t cash!
Cheapasses
Look at you BofA. Moving and shaking.
I see you BofA, shaking dat ass, shaking dat ass…
People still write checks?!?
Yes, if you have an old-fashioned ma and pop landlord who doesn’t take Venmo, Zelle, or have an online payment portal set up.
Time for a new landlord.
Use Plastiq?
Time to buy?
I “write checks” via bill pay. set up payee, send a payment, the bank sends a check.
Re:BofA, I quit their checking account, but wanted the free money on the better balance rewards credit card, so I opened a Merrill Edge account instead. The ME account “writes check” too even though it is a brokerage account. My new free checking with BofA.
Our next whine waiting to happen.
Bill Pay doesn’t work anymore on my savings account.
Two weeks ago BofA disabled Bill Pay on my savings account without any warning. They just said my account had a “change of status”. When I click Bill Pay, it now says account not eligible for bill pay.
I pay my HOA fee by check because I dont want to pay the credit card fee.
I just found the custom Contact Name I made for BOA on my cell phone that I still haven’t changed in years and now I know why.
