Barclaycard Arrival+ Adds 8 Transfer Partners

The Barclaycard Arrival+ hasn’t been available for new sign ups in some time, but today one reader reported receiving an e-mail announcing the addition of transfer partners.

The current available transfer partners are as follows (transfer rates are 5,000 airline miles for 7,000 Arrival+ miles unless other specified):

  • Flying Blue
  • Etihad Guest
  • JAL (5,000 JAL miles for 11,500 Arrival miles and 10,000 JAL miles for 22,500 Arrival miles)
  • Qantas
  • EVA Air
  • InterMiles
  • AeroMexico
  • Aeroplan (5,000 Aeroplan miles for 8,500 Arrival miles and 10,000 Aeroplan miles for 17,000 Arrival miles)

Some of these partners are the same as the Arrival Premier offered (also discontinued). It’s strange that Barclays are adding benefits to a discontinued card, but this could be a sign that Barclaycard plans to revive this product line.

Got the same email..
The transfer rates are poor, but could be a good sign, as CapOne also started with sub-par transfer rates.
But totally does not make sense on the cards closed for new sign ups.

I remember getting this card for a 70k SUB and used the miles on travel. The new benefits are actually worse than even Capital One’s at the rate of 5000/7000. That is 0.71 mile/point. Capital One offers mostly 1:1 except for Eva at 0.75 while Citi offers 1:1 for all partner transfers… Not a very good deal but nice to have if only short of a few miles.

Actually 5250/7000 (0.75 cpp), given the 5% rebate. 😉

I remember being able to use them at the rate of 100 points per dollar. But they could only be used in increments of $25. I thought the card was great for the $600 sign up bonus. But not worth keeping after. If they offer a similar bonus I would sign up again.

I’d love to see Arrival+ make a comeback. The card was not terrible, but it was terribly marketed and launched. Seeing them expand it or possibly use it as a test for a fresh product sounds wonderful (and more banks in the game is good for us!)
