Our Verdict
The standard bonus on this card is only $25, and now it’s at $100 with no minimum spend requirement. (We’ve seen this bonus before.)
I doubt many people will signup solely for the bonus, but if you’re on the fence with this card for the 5% rate from the portal, dining, etc., now is a good time to go for it.
Here are 26 things to know about Barclaycard credit cards.
Hat tip to MaximizingMoney
I have this card. Their customer service is bad yes. Just keep filing disputes with them and they will credit it you.
Portal Dispute – upromise.com
CC Rewards Dispute – barclay.com
Current earned over a year, about $400.00.
What’s the dispute process?
Anyway, I’ve been through this BS with Discover Deals, and I decided in advance that if Upromise and/or Upromise MC want to cheat me, then so be it. I’ll learn what they’re like and move on. Afetr waiting several months, it’s clear the missing 4% will never show up now. I’ll just take what I got (when it’s no longer “pending”, which is better than “missing”), and then cut all ties with Upromise. I’m happy with other Barclay cards, but this one is a total dud.
I have this card. Just know that they very rarely pay out the bonus amount and their CS is a PITA to deal with.
I thought Discover Deals was bad. Upromise is even worse. Be warned. They never give 5% on Upromise portal purchases. They only give 1%. Scammiest card ever!
Oh no. That’s why I only recommend Chase offers to friends.
I was wondering, is it normal to have them write you and ask for an original bill? All that info is on our credit reports. And I’ve been at the same address over 5 years. I hope I didn’t stumble upon a fake site.
Only downside is that they take forever to actually pay out rewards.
That’s if they credit correctly. I often found they didn’t work and had to file tickets for them.
Just to be clear, is it 5% of the cashback rate on the portal or in addition to the cashback rate. Would a 10% cashback become 10.5% or 15%?
Yes, I think 10% would become 15%.
Most Upromise portal rates are 5%, I think, so it usually ends as 10%.
Any idea if they match offers (if you signed up literally the day before this came out)?
Barclay isn’t easy. It used to be possible to get a match by escalating to a supervisor. Might still work, not sure.

I am trying to find the list of restaurants that would earn 5%. They sure do a good job hiding them.

I literally signed up for this card yesterday haha. Haven’t even gotten the card yet or anything. Any idea how they are aboout matching offers??
Always worth asking. But your question is answered in the post we linked: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/which-credit-card-issuers-will-match-a-higher-signup-bonus/#Barclay
