Update 11/13/21: According to VFTW the card will be back in early 2022.
Around the time that American Airlines announced changes to elite status, including the introduction of Loyalty Points the Barclays American Airlines business card stopped accepting new applications. At the time I thought this would be temporary and new benefits would be added to the card to reflect the new Loyalty Points, but the card has not returned and customer service representatives are now stating the card has been discontinued. Because of this we have removed this card form our best credit card bonuses.
was expecting annual fee so I called & prepared to see if any retention offers BUT when I asked the rep, he said there is no annual fee on this card?!?!? Even the website literature says there is an annual fee. Not sure if they are simply not charging it due to recent travel issues related to covid or have changed the structure, but either way it’s back sock drawered until I have a use for it.
Same here. I was also told that if I cancel the card then I will lose my earned AA miles in 12 months if they are not used.. any DPs?
Let’s hope that when it returns in 2022, it is considered a “new” card so previous holders can get card again
Is this another step on the way downhill for AA?
They realized they weren’t approving anyone anyway.
They approved me for this card about a month ago after a recon call.
Is Barclays stingy with Business cards? Or is it along the lines of Amex/Citi where you can get away with little to no ‘proof’ like a Sole Proprietorship?
I have a legit sole proprietorship with an EIN and I don’t recall having to show any proof with Barclays. I think US Bank was the only one where I had to send something in.
What does this mean for MSing your way to status? Have to spend before card discontinued??? LOL Some of us can’t get Citicards :O
It’s not open to new applicants, but it’ll probably remain for existing cardholders for a long time.
I always take the word of tier 1 and tier 2 CSRs with a hefty grain of salt. Either way it looks like Barclays is definitely nerfing their bonus offerings and upping issuing criteria.
wrong thread
Dang, glad I recently got it
Good thing I grabbed it when I did despite not being the highest SUB at the time
Sadge.
