Reader tennis9z9 was browsing another site and saw an advertisement for a Barclays Arrival 70,000 point offer. When clicking the link it reverts to the 60,000 mile offer, other readers have also reported seeing the same advertisement and the same thing happens.
The Arrival currently has a 60,000 mile bonus with the annual fee waived. I suspect if we do see this 70,000 mile offer go live the annual fee won’t be waived, but one can only hope. I suspect this is just the case of advertising going live before the offer was changed and we will see a 70,000 bonus soon so I’d recommend waiting for the offer to change.
I think Barclay is starting to crack down on churning. I had 2 friends apply for the Wyndham card when they had the 45k offer and were denied for too many new cards. One friend was 9/24 and one was 6/24, which is way less than me!
This card requires a $5K spend in 90 days. The AAdvantage Aviator gives you 60K American Airline miles on the first purchase for only annual fee of $95. I guess it depends upon your needs. I like this deal better with no minimum purchase.
How long would I have to wait to apply for an Arrival, if I cancel my current one today?
On another DoC page it recommends 6 months.
Yikes! Thank you!
Can you product change and wait the 6 months, or has to be canceled?
Are you talking about this page? I read that as “six months from the date you applied for the last card”, not from the date you cancelled. I can’t speak from experience though, as I’ve never had a Barclays card. Also regarding the other question in this thread, I don’t think product change vs. cancellation ever makes a difference for any bank, at least in regards to whether you can churn the bonus for that card product. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
I applied a few weeks after cancelling in July, instant denial, no hard pull, letter said I currently have or have recently had this card. I felt good about it because a DP from June had someone gettting it 2 weeks after shutting their old one down. Something changed between them and me because others who applied recently after closing started getting letters like me as well.
Thanks for the dp

Doc,
You might be wrong. I am getting this for more than 1 month and I thought the bonus offer includes the minimum spend. $5k spend equals 10k miles plus 60k bonus equals to 70k.
Ah, that would be a very weird way to advertise it but entirely possible.
Barclay shouldn’t really be saying it’s 70K “bonus miles” if 10K are not actually a bonus.
