Our Verdict

Not as good as the 75,000 point bonus. The upside is this is available via referral so if you can refer a friend/family member and effectively split the referral miles then this offer is actually better. You can see how being added as an AU affects your credit by reading this post. We will add this to the best credit card bonuses, but keep in mind if you’re not using a referral from somebody you know it’s probably better to wait for the 75k bonus to return. This is also the best offer on a card with no minimum spend. Read through these things you should know about Barclays credit cards before asking any basic questions in the comments.

Post history:

  • Update 8/26/24: Bonus still active.
  • Update 7/30/24: Deal will end tomorrow.
  • Update 6/14/24: This offer is now available via public link. The public version gets 70k directly and does not need the authorized-user card added. (ht dealdad)

Can husband and wife both apply for this Aviator and both get the bonus pts or does an authorized user get the bonus too so no point both applying? My wife has never had it. I closed mine around 2020.

Hey there, does anyone know if I can close the authorized user card on my account and keep the sign up bonus points? I signed up last June 2024 and got my bonus the end of last summer, but my Grandpa opened a card as well same time and added me as an authorized user on his card and now it’s showing up on my credit report as a new account opened. I am hoping I can cancel the authorized user account and it will come off my credit report for Chase’s 5/24.

The main thing I want to know is if I can remove authorized users from the account months after receiving the sign up bonus and not impact or get my miles clawed back.

Thanks!

If it helps anyone, my annual fee just posted. I called to cancel given the AA deal with Citi and they waived the annual fee no issue. Wondering what comes next for this card but I’ll keep it for free

Is there any chance this sub happens ever again before it gets discontinued?

Thanks for the link. Is there anyone like my application review status? My card application was submitted one week ago and its status still on review. I made a call two days after submission, however, I was told that they need a verification even after my phone calling with verification.

 William Charles

The 70k offer may have expired, but the card still seems to be available with a 60k offer:

https://cards.barclaycardus.com/banking/cards/aadvantage-aviator-red-world-elite-mastercard/

That’s important to keep track of, since apparently Barclays is going to lose this card at some point, since American Airlines has dropped its relationship with Barclays as of early December, and so the Barclays AA cards will be discontinued at some point, but it’s necessarily clear exactly when.

Anyone who applied on the same day with Barclay’s HA card and both got instant approval? Or got pending approval for the 2nd one but was approved after reconsideration? Could be great to just have 1 hard pull for 2 cards.

Applied for both on 1/31
Instant approval (15.1k cl) for Aviator (First one I submitted)
Got the wait/pending message on HA
4 days letter I got approved (1k cl) automatically without reaching out

Hard pull on TU. Shows only 1 HP.

Received instant for AA on 1/31, pending for HA same day. Was 4/24 before those apps. they called last night to confirm my info and approved HA, split my $15k credit limit on AA between both.
