Our Verdict
Not as good as the 75,000 point bonus. The upside is this is available via referral so if you can refer a friend/family member and effectively split the referral miles then this offer is actually better. You can see how being added as an AU affects your credit by reading this post. We will add this to the best credit card bonuses, but keep in mind if you’re not using a referral from somebody you know it’s probably better to wait for the 75k bonus to return. This is also the best offer on a card with no minimum spend. Read through these things you should know about Barclays credit cards before asking any basic questions in the comments.
Post history:
- Update 8/26/24: Bonus still active.
- Update 7/30/24: Deal will end tomorrow.
- Update 6/14/24: This offer is now available via public link. The public version gets 70k directly and does not need the authorized-user card added. (ht dealdad)
Anyone have any data points on previously having this card and then getting the bonus from this “once in a lifetime” offer?
I’ve gotten the bonus in 2018 and 2023 for this card, but I don’t know when they added the “once in a lifetime” language
Anyone have this situation before? I shared my referral code with two friends who applied and were approved. Later, I noticed my referral code had been sent by email in April and said it was good through July. Do you think I’ll get the bonuses anyway because the link still worked? (A few weeks later it stopped working.) If there’s a decent chance of bonuses, I’ll pay the fee to keep it open. If there’s no chance, I’ll cancel. Any tips?
I received a referral code on a brochure for this offer on an actual American Airlines flight last week. I had to connect and the first flight attendant said the shorter/smaller trips didn’t offer the codes but my second leg was a major route and they talked about it over the loud speaker then handed out brochures for anyone that wanted one. Wife and I both got one and opened accounts immediately. Will likely go ahead and close regular AAdvantage through Citi to get churning cycles restarted on those and keep these for now.
Is it possible to reapply for this card if I opened it back in July 2023? Closed July 2024? Heard while Barclays has fine print saying earning bonus is a one time thing, reports of others say it’s still possible. Other worry would be AA taking points away like they did in the past with CITI train.
approved.2/24. 4 inquiries in past 12 months. 750 Transunion
Seems like there isn’t really the ability to generate new referral links, but there are valid links on reddit.com/r/churningreferrals that are pulling the 70k offer
Anyone know where on your account page the referral link is?
Same question, unablke to find the referral link
I believe that in the Barclays app after 6 months certain people have been getting referral links under the Offers tab. I haven’t gotten anything after 8 months so YMMV.
when is this deal not going on? Only time its worth a post is with waived AF
It’s normally 60K.
Does Barclays match sign up bonuses? I literally just applied and was instant approved for the 60k offer, mere hours before this post was refreshed…
I am wondering the same
Had applied for P1 & P2 around Oct 1, 2024; so 60k offer. SM into barclays on both accounts, P1 was matched. P2 wasn’t. Tried a few more SM for P2, but no dice. Different reasons each time for denial, saying 1st P2 didn’t meet terms yet ($1 charge/pay $99 annual fee) and 2nd that it was an in-air only promotion?!?!
Unexpectedly, the extra 10k miles is also available to me – I got the card 9/24 when the SUB was advertised as 60k. Now my Rewards & Benefits page shows that I will get 70k miles when I complete the requirements of making one purchase and paying the annual fee. Good thing I didn’t make an early payment on my first statement with the annual fee!
Lucky, I got mines later than you and don’t see that in mines. still showing 60K
