Barclays has launched the new Barclays Priceline VIP Rewards Visa Card. Card has the following benefits:
- 10,000 bonus points after $1,000 in spend within 90 days of account opening
- No annual fee
- Card earns at the following rate:
- 5X points for every $1 spent on Priceline bookings
- 2X points on gas and restaurant purchases including delivery services
- 1X points on all other purchases
- Automatically receive VIP gold status
- 0% Intro APR for 15 months on balance transfers made within 45 days of account opening
- Up to $100 Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fee credit
- Points are worth 1¢ each.
Seems similar to the regular Priceline card but with a worse sign up bonus and a few extra benefits (gold status and $100 Global Entry credit).
snoozer
It’s like when TJ Maxx pushes you to get their credit card, but this is somehow worse.
D.O.A.
I can’t be the only legacy 2x Priceline cardholder wondering if we’re going to get moved to this new card… that sweet, sweet 3.3% statement credit on travel with no AF is one of my favorite cards.
Hopefully we continue to be grandfathered.
How are you getting 3.3% on all travel? Or is it only Priceline? For me it has been hit or miss even with Priceline bookings. Only Express Deals show up with the *. Regular hotel booking and VIP deals on Priceline sometimes work and sometime do not. Same with Airline booking.
Still, yes I prefer the 2% CB on everything which is the fallback card for me.
Airline charges come back at 3.3% for me, that’s the easy way to redeem. You get the 33% discount on redeemed points, and also get to keep 10% of your redeemed points.
Notably you can uncover the hidden hotel behind the express deals about 99% of the time with some sleuthing.
I have it too. I saw the “upgrade” offer for this recently on desktop (alongside their terrible and relentless BT offers). That would make me think they won’t force a transition, at least for now.. sullim4
I’m also sitting on a legacy card from 10 years ago. It has been my daily driver whenever I’m not churning a bonus. I got nervous when Barclays discontinued sign-ups and when they nerfed the also-very-consumer-friendly uber card but we made it through that. Hopefully they leave us alone. I’m never going to replicate the 3% back on daycare if they end this card.
I have that too. It is my ‘everything else’ card and have earned a couple of thousand dollars of cash back since I had it from 2013.
I hope so as well- however if we can get the Shatner card back I’ll be thrilled!
Even the existing Priceline Visas get VIP Gold, so no new benefit there. It appears having William Shatner on card option again is the biggest benefit. VIP is just more coupons for opaque products. I don’t think any existing cardholders want to be changed to this card. Redemption for non-travel purchases is 1 point/1 cent, but higher value for certain travel and certain Priceline purchases.
Now we just need the Shatner option back on our legacy 2% cards! 🙂
Looks like the regular card also gives Gold status and Global Entry credit requires $10k spend. Regular card has a better SUB so no reason to get this.
Was interested in the Global Entry credit until I saw the $10,000 spend requirement.
Also, it seems like the link on this post is to the regular Priceline Visa and not the new VIP Rewards card.
What is gold status at Priceline?
And what can the points be used for? I assume 1c for a Priceline purchase but it doesn’t say…
