The Barclays Uber card is no longer accepting new applications. The old application pages all error out and it isn’t mentioned in the Uber app either. Barclays is stating that this is a temporary removal due to market conditions, Barclays did not provide a timeframe for when the card would be available again. The card itself became far less interesting when the it moved from statement credit to Uber credit and earning rates were slashed from 5/4% to 3%. U.S. Bank Altitude Go is a more interesting as it earns 4% back on dining.
Hat tip to reader Hollis
Was a good card back in the day for the 4% cash back on dining. Now at 3% and rewards in Uber credits only it’s useless for me. Luckily I also have a CapOne Savor card for dining (4% cash back, grandfathered with no AF).
“Temporarily not accepting new apps” means they either know it sucks now and are revamping it, or it will be nuked altogether.
wait people were applying for this card?
this was good til they nuked it and half the places i went to got declined afterwards for some odd reason (cafes/restaurants/etc)
Dear Barclays, please use this “temporary removal” to revamp the card (again) back to something useful – because UberCash is useless.
God I hope this happens. It’ll at least make me feel better about signing up for this crap card. What a mistake.
Whatever happened to that Lyft card that synchrony signed up for in early 2019?
I still use it once a month to get a cell phone protection
same. this is the only charge I make in this card.
I tried to use this during March. It was impossible. Nobody knew what the new company way,
they switched from the mycardbenefits one
It’s still a great card to get a $1 amazon reload every month for the small balance waiver.
Can you please explain the process?

I got a good few months out of this card before they nuked it – haven’t touched it since the changes though. When I paid with it, multiple cashiers asked me if I worked for Uber? It was a fancy looking card…but doesn’t seem like they’re going to reverse course anytime soon so hopefully it’s enjoying my sock drawer
2% at GCM wasn’t the worst thing in the world
Covid-19 was the final nail in the coffin for this card. Uber usage has dropped dramatically.
