FYI, after you redeem a certain number of trials they stop letting you redeem them.
Yeah I got a message like this. I’ve done at least 2-3 at this point and it says my apple ID had hit the maximum number of redemptions for this type of code
too bad they don’t have news+
Not sure if helpful but I just redeemed some points on MyPoints for a gift card after a bunch of offers popped up, one of them being 2 months free Apple News+. I cancelled my trial only two days prior and the new offer code works for returning customers giving me another two months free.
I just searched news+ and found it’s available too.

Edit: on second take it appears to be exclusive offer for some.
Not a new member. After making the purchase, I received an activation email (which says Up to 2 months of Apple Music). Clicked the redeem button and was redirected to Apple Music and it says the offer is only for 1 month. Ok cool…but after trying to redeem it, I get an error saying the offer is only for new subscribers.
Apple used to be free music almost indefinitely but they are hurting now and they need cool hard cash. They’ve been desperate enough to peddle their GCs at 10-15% discount over the past couple of years.
I’d hardly call Apple desperate.
It looks like they’re only giving me 2 months of free Apple Music and I’m a new customer.
I got 1 as a returning customer.
