Best Buy Credit Card: Get $100 Reward With $100 In Purchases

The Offer

Direct Link to offer (must be logged in to see this)

  • Best Buy is offering $100 reward certificate when you are approved for the Best Buy credit card and spend $100 at Best Buy.
  • You’ll also earn 10% back in rewards on your first day of purchases when you are approved for the card.

Our Verdict

$100 in Best Buy store credit isn’t the biggest deal. Some people might find it interesting if they anyway were interested in the card. It’s also nice be able to earn $100 credit with a low $100 spend requirement, and comes with a nice 10% earning on the first day as well.

Tangentially, Best Buy is removing the ability to earn rewards for everyone except their credit cardholders.

I actually closed my BB credit card. This is an update to my last comment. I was on chat with a BB rep. I was advised my $100 reward certificate wouldn’t be administered until 20 days after the promotion has expired. That would’ve been roughly six weeks. Another rep told me I needed to spend $100 to get a $100. I was told two different things in the beginning. The 10% isn’t even eligible on discounted items. There was no use in me having the card. I called to cancel. When I was asked why, their own reps had no clue about the $100 promotion. They rudely and abruptly transferred me twice when asked to close my account. *The first rep actually said it would be 30-45 days to the receive the $100 certificate! It just proves how BB cares about their customers. To me it wasn’t worth it. The constant lying made me realize why I shouldn’t do business with them.

So on feb 2 I went to Best Buy, the store employee mentioned if I open a Best Buy credit card today and use it to purchase the Apple Watch I was buying that I would get $100 back in rewards. So far I have gotten nothing. I called my credit card and they don’t know anything about it.

Any suggestions?

Has anyone actually gotten the $100

This is almost exactly what happened to me. I went in to the store to purchase a computer monitor on Feb 2 and they pushed me to open a credit card because they said I would receive $100 since I was spending $100. Still have not gotten it. I’ve tried calling Best Buy customer service again and again and it’s almost impossible to reach someone that has any clue what you’re talking about.

I just applied, was approved for the credit card, made the $100 purchase yesterday. Store clerk said I would get an E-Gift Card, rep at Best Buy customer service said I would get a Rewards Certificate, what’s the difference between the two

The 10% doesn’t work on all items. I tried using it on a television and it posted not eligible. Also I still haven’t received my $100 certificate. It’s been two weeks.

It is definitely worth it, if you’re buying something over $100. I happen to buy a new stove and microwave and received an automatic $100, plus 10% of my purchase of $1200, so an additional $120. You can use your best buy visa on any purchase which will apply towards earning a best buy certificate.

Does the affect 5/24? Or store cards are ok?

I’m 100% sure this will count against you for 5/24. If you are close, I would not go for it. Not worth it until after you secure those Chase cards first. Something similar may roll around later.

Not seeing this offer just mentions the 10% back on my first purchase.

Really only worth it if you were already planning on buying a $2000 electronic anyway.
